Well my big question is, why isnt Crytek's Cryengine2 not being used in Farcry2 ?!!?! Its using some evaio something..

And why is it being published by Ubisoft? and not EA?

The Far Cry franchise was sold in order to make Far Cry 2. It's common practice. The game franchise was sold (or leased for 1 game, not quite sure) to another developer, which is why CryEngine 2 is not being used.

Ubisoft owns the rights to the Far cry name I believe, which is why they are publishing it. The reason it's not using the CryEngine 2 is because the developer didn't feel like paying to use it I suppose.

    And well, there you go.

I dont care but I was just confused to read that farcry2 is using some engine thats barely as interesting as the Crysis one... but it seemsto me that more and more often games get released with their OWN engine so the engine is optimized for the game.... I mean, its not THAT complicated to mix and match :p *cough ima real.... real, cough cough you see,,, profesional when it comes to... cough designing game engines cough burp collapse die* :D

If Ubisoft was making Far Cry 2 we might just get a rebadged version of Crysis, which would not be much fun. Maybe it's a good thing that it got sold to another developer because they won't use the same engine. Let's just hope that they keep the gameplay similar and make great AI - in other words, a worthy successor to the original Far Cry (best FPS ever in my opinion).

Yeah the concept of you making friends and allies among the field seems interesting. How if you go down the friends you make can come save you. Also how you have to balance yoursef among the "gangs" or whatever you want to call them.

Well I did play the single player demo at Digital Life 2007 and loved it, but it really depends on the story. Didn't get very far into the demo.

Far Cry was amazing. The Last levels did piss me off though. Not Looking forward to Far Cry 2 that much, but Crysis is a different story.
