I've been hearing this a lot and am wondering what it is and what you can do to prevent it. I'm not very good at programming so if you reply, could you explain it in layman terms?

Umm what exactly do you want to be explained? If you are asking what a "Fatal Error" is, then it is an error which cannot be recovered without restarting the game/programs. In most instances, Fatal Errors tend to be those that make the game/program inoperable, requireing re-installation.

The thing is, my battlefront 2 seems to be malfunctioning. When I try to start it, it opens 2 tabs. One says SWBFII and the other says FATAL. I'm guess it's a fatal error

It could be any number of things causing it. Make sure to check and see if there are any patches or updates for the game as well as make sure that you have all the newest drivers for your sound and video cards.
