My 256 Nvidia 8600m GT Has been acting funny lately. I have it in an inspiron 1520 notebook.

It started to distort graphics about a month ago. It only did it once or twice a week for about 2 weeks. Now it does it once or twice an hour.

I assume this problem is hardware and not software correct? - This link to problem

    You're GPU is dying.

It is most definitely a hardware issue.

Thank god I still have 6 months of warranty with dell. Time to call them up and get a full motherboard replacement.

By the way did it die because I played to many games on it?

    Because of heat issues?

or what causes it to die?

8600M cards and basically 8000 series cards have heat problems and die easily. It's not ur fault if u play too much games. Basically they're flawed. I Hope that u have warranty so dell can replace ur GPU.
