I have recently reformatted my computer and i loaded fear first thing after i had some trouble loading the drivers. it loaded seemingly fine. when i open fear it comes up with the "FEAR has encountered an error and needs to close." then i can send error report or not and i have sent it about three times. if anyone has any suggestions that would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Can you be more specific??? Is it telling you anything other than "Fear has encountered an error and needs to close"?

Did you have the latest video card driver? Did your computer run FEAR before?
Can you be more specific? Like your PC spec, your OS is WinXP or Linux...etc

yes i have ran fear before i did the swipe. i have installed the latest drivers from dell. im runnin XP MCE and the error is just some standard error. it says something along the lines of " Fear has encoutered and error and must close. if you were in the middle of something your data may be lost. we are sorry for any inconvienience this has caused. " .then it says something like " Please tell microsoft of your problem, microsoft has created an error report you can send..." its the standard error when something happens for no reason. i have gotten it many times for other reasons and it is usually no big deal. \

oh its a Dell XPS M170 with 1G ram, 60Ghd, and the Nvidia 7800GTX

Your game crash then, I think there is some error with your OS, I got the problem several times with different game. Maybe you should try to increase your virtual memory?
The last option is another reformat or reinstall the game, but let wait for the other to help you.
I will look around and see.
    Good luck

    Jamie,

I agree with anubissx in that FEAR indeed crashes when you try to launch it. There are two possible solutions.

    1) I suggest you first adjust your virtual memory:
Right-click My Computer-->Properties-->Advanced-->under Performance, select Settings-->Advanced-->under Virtual Memory, select Change.
Set the Initial and Maximum sizes to 2.5 x system RAM. Click OK and make sure "Programs" is selected under Processor scheduling and Memory usage.

    2) Reinstall the game. It is possible that the game wasn't installed properly which may cause it to crash upon launching it. Make sure you restart your PC after installation.
