Hey guys just brought fear (the first one) for my notebook, when i put the disc in and run it the fear screen appears but there is no option to install the game, i brought the gold edition and the options i am given are:
    - fear directors cut
    - fear extraction point
    - readme
    - bonus content
when i click one of the first 2 options i hear the beep then the screen closes and nothing happens, when i click either of the last 2 options nothing at all happens, anyone had this problem or is it a vista 64 problem.
Any suggestions would be welcome...ive heard its a good game and am looking forward to starting it.

Have you tried exploring the disc and installing it manually?

No problem~ Sometimes we forget even the most simplest things yet can always remember some really complicated methods. :p

You're running Vista x64. Go into the dvd and set the installer to XP compatibility mode. That'll fix it.

edit: Or maybe you don't need to, I know it was a common issue with the original shipping version.

Yes I have heared that setting the installer to XP comptability mode helped in the 64 bit version.

Yeap got it all sorted out then had massive framerate issues but it turned out to be incompatibility between xfire and F.E.A.R....
Great game though.....anyone played the second one and is it worth picking up?

According to the reviews the 2nd game is a solid shooter but the story is... not there. Personally I played the demo and the gameplay is fine, the major addition I found is that you can do now the fancy movements the soldiers could do in the first installment (like 'jumping' nicely behind some bar for cover, etc.).

Well that sounds good about the gameplay but to be honest the thing that makes F.E.A.R so enjoyible is the storyline and atmosphere if they are missing from the game......then its just another shooter....
