I finally ordered an xbox360 arcade yesterday along with halo 3 and tdu, both from newegg.
I am going to buy a 60gb xbox360 hard drive off ebay in a few hrs.
So here are my questions and I think people that already own xboxes should know the answers.
I have no clue how big of a hard drive I need. Will halo 3 copy directly to the hard drive? If so I probably don't need a big hard drive at all.

What about audio? I don't care about using a mic but I want to wear headphones and not use speakers. Will I need an adapter for Red and White to headphone?

I bought the xbox360 arcade off newegg and it says it has a a/b/g wireless card. Is this true because I thought those always came separate.

I know I have more questions in my mind but cannot think of them right now so I may ask them later ;)

Thanks xbox360 owners for some answers- I will rep you ;)

Well as for the wireless that wouldnt be included (unless its a deal of the shop selling it) and as for the audio, you will need a female phono to female 3.5mm jack old bean (not too pricey).

As for halo 3 i cant say anymore as im not a fan, but hope this helped slightly.
BTW: if you were given wireless there will be a detachable white box on the back with a dangly usb cable coming off of it :) http://tinyurl.com/5uvzbc

    Hope that helps.

Oh, and you can buy a 20GB hard drive for $20 if you haven't bought the ebay one already, as part of a special upgrade deal for arcade owners. I'd say it's definitely still enough space, but if you download a lot of stuff you will have to occasionally delete demos and movies you don't use anymore to make space. Check it out at this link: http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/13/microsofts-nxe-storage-solution-free-512mb-memory-card-or-20/

    @Necromis

"Since the New Xbox Experience requires 128MB of free space, Microsoft is offering a storage solution for those who may lack the proper storage with either (a) a free 512MB memory unit or (b) a 20GB hard drive for $19.99. If you purchased an Xbox 360 console with no memory solution (i.e. no hard drive or memory unit), you can enter both the 12-digit serial number and the 12-digit Console ID here to see if you're eligible for the offer. We're not sure if there might be an issue with replaced Xbox 360s and proper serial numbers"

I don't think I qualify because mine does come with a 256MB memory card.
    Thanks anyway ;)
    I haven't ordered a hard drive yet but I'm thinking of getting a 20GB for ~$40 or a 60GB for ~$65.

Thanks Topper I'm hoping its not a mistake but knowing newegg it is.

It also says it comes with bluetooth LOL, not even the elite comes with wireless.

Halo 3 can be installed to the hard drive at a size of roughly 6.3 gb. The game may not load appreciably faster if it is installed as opposed to running from the disc

For wireless, you will need the separate adapter that costs around $80-100.

For the HDD, 60gb should be enough but it depends. Demos run about 600-1000mb, HD movies are about 4-5gb (but these are rentals so you delete them after watching), arcade games are small. I have a 20gb and it's definitely too small, but 60gb would be ok. Although, the 20gb HDD ended up shipping with only 13gb capacity so that didn't help.

For reference, here is the current list of NXE game installs and the respective sizes: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=202456

No, you qualify. It's designed for arcade owners too, since it's very easy to use up enough space on the memory card with just your saved games so that you don't have 128mb available, thus qualifying. All they do is check if your console is an Arcade or Core system, they don't check if you've bought additional memory cards or hard drives or whatever, so you don't have to do anything to qualify except read a number off of your console and enter it into a microsoft site.

The newegg listing has to be an error. Notice there are no reviews, and no overview or product tour tab. If you'll notice they do have a listing for it with the proper description and specifications here. There is no xbox 360 console with built in wifi, and they clearly list it does not come with the wireless networking adapter.

P.S. A wireless adapter can be had for considerably less than $80 on ebay, link.

Ok I got an idea on the wireless.
My computer is on the network wirelessly so I could probably set up internet connection sharing on it and just plug the xbox360 into my computers ethernet. Or... would this work? http://cgi.ebay.com/Xbox-360-PS3-Wireless-adapter_W0QQitemZ220312481247QQcmdZViewItemQQptZVideo_Games_Accessories?hash=item220312481247&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2|65%3A15|39%3A1|240%3A1318

I don't plan on watching movies or doing many demos.
I don't even plan to play many games only Halo 3, Test drive unlimited and PURE... maybe.
So I will probably just get the 20GB model-Will I need a credit card to pay microsoft? I can only buy things with paypal and I imagine MS will only accept a CC.

One more thing. In the picture... will these work with a cheep $2 headphone that I use in my computer? The headphones are male 3.5MM and the 6FT adapter in the picture is female red and white to male 3.5MM so that won't work unless I buy a coupler. So I have that teeny little adapter but I would only be able to plug either the red or white cable into it. Would that work.
Sorry if I'm not making much sense.

    Thanks for your replies everyone.

is this an xbox360 forum now? we rage on people when they post desktop questions in here and shoo them away to DTR but Xbox Qs are fine?

im all for helping answer questions but we are getting way too much thread spam lately and its polluting the forum imo

ICS causes a lot of lag on the xbox. I did it and i dont recommend it. Get an adapter (even a linksys gaming adapter will work) or hard wire it.

firstly yes you could link it to your pc for the internet, secondly the piccy shows the wrong connectors... They are MALE (think of the human anatomy :) ) you need FEMALE at both ends...

Any Xbox -> PC -> Internet connection is going to be too slow for multiplayer online gaming.

I'm not sure if the adapter you listed would work, I'd just spend the extra few bucks and get this one: link, $33 buy it now, free shipping, and it comes with the power adapter and a network cable. From the description, it doesn't look like the other auction includes either.

Hmm I have a netgear wireless USB adapter. Why wouldn't that work? Do they have to be made for the xbox360?
The xbox360 arcade comes with a cable that converts the xbox360 to a female yellow male video cable+2 red and white male sound cable(yes I know what the male and female stands for :D )
So I have a 23" HP L2335 that has all kinds of female input(DVI, VGA, RGB, Yellow-Composite)
I've yet to find an audio solution.
The xbox360 headset only has 1 speaker for 1 ear and I think that would be annoying only having audio in 1 ear even if the headset has the mic i don't think I could manage without 2 ears of sound.
So I have a pair of headphones and I'm gonna find and adapter on ebay.
Why the hell didn't microsoft put a 3.5MM audio jack in the xbox360?
