Guys I have a problem playing fifa both 07 & 08. The menus are very slow and the gameplay is in slow motion the whole time, and very unresponsive. I'm using the 163.69 drivers, but every driver since I got this laptop has had the same result. All other games run perfectly fine! I installed fifa 07/08 on my desktop 7600gt and it even plays at 1650 x 1080 so I don't understand why it's slow at 1024 x 768 on my laptop (or any resolution really).

My specs are in the sig, running Vista. My desktop is slightly more powerful but with a 7600gt and it runs so smooth.

    Anybody have any ideas?

So there's 2 of us! I wonder what it could be, drivers, nvidia settings - I've tried everything and only Fifa gives me problems. I even Reinstalled OS, It makes no sense.

lol but my video card is so loveable!

I can play madden on the highest settings as well 1680 x 1050. Fifa 07 & 08 are just horrendous. It makes no sense that it plays so well on a 7600GT but not on an 8600m GT..

Come on there has to be some graphics experts out there that can helps us out :)

If you can try it out that would be great.

I just tried the 162.50 whql, as well as the original dell drivers. It's all the same result, game is totally unplayable

These are the drivers I'm using as well. I find that changing drivers makes no difference for me, it's still very bad.

I'm contemplating buying 64 bit vista, I'm getting desperate here. I spent so much time trying to get 07 to work and now that I got 08 and it's the same issue, it's very frustrating.

It was the same for me in FIFA 07. But Forceware 163.69 from nVidia worked perfectly fine, and now I play at the highest level of detail and the largest resolution available, with ease. Try that. I'll have FIFA 08 this week, I hope they work with it as well.

confirmed its a vista problem... works perfectly on XP with a 7600GT... like it said we will have to w8 for the SP1 update. i heard theres a fix out there for fifa 2007 that right now if a beta but it will come with the SP1 update for vista, i think that might fix the Fifa08 low frame rate problem, but dont know where to get that vista beta hotfix :S

Okey, so i have searched a bit and i have found this topic; http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=172717 In this topic you can find 'vista updates' i have installed all 4 of them and indeed, fifa runs smoother with these installed. (not perfectly smooth but smoother ;))

I think all the hotfixes that are in your post are also in the link i posted. anyway, i was running on driver 163.44. now, i'm downloading 163.69 maybe then i'll have no stutters... lets keep our fingers crossed ;)

    anyway thank you for everything!

edit: the 163.69 driver makes no difference. i even get better results with the 163.44 driver...

    Hi there guys!

I'm having the same problem and as far as I know there isn't a solution for it!
As I said, I haven't got a solution, so I'm only going to share with you what I've found till know:
    - I believe it's not a Vista problem cause the game runs fine in other graphic cards on Vista (I've tested it in a Nvidia GeForce Go 7400 and it runs very smoothly)
    - this "unplayable slow motion" seems to be common to new Nvidia laptop graphic cards (8600M GT and 8600M GS)
    - I've came across other testimonials that confirm that this kind of problem happens in other games (don't know wich)
    - EA and Nvidia don't seem to have a clue about it's possible solution and cause

Please let me know what you find out...
    Looking forward to solve this...
    Cumps!

BTW, mine is a 8600M GS

I have been playing FIFA 08 for several days now. I can say this... It is NOT WORTH INSTALLING on vista. I have tried about every version of the later drivers on laptopvideo2go. I run a dual boot xp. It runs good in xp "UNTIL YOU ACTUALLY PLAY THE GAME". You will be playing along and then WHAM. The game is going but your screen isnt refreshing. A second goes by and it is working again. But hey, in that second you could be trying to score or missed a critical pass. It is NOT over heat. I am NOT over clocked and I have a laptop cooler. I have tried without commentating, at the lowest resolutions, with refs, without refs, without linesmen, etc... I have disabled vsync. I have turned off most all bells an whistles in the NVIDIA menu. I am sorry to say that I think it is EA... They need to fix whatever issue we are having... Other games work just fine in XP.

    Best Wishes, SXO792

Yep I believe it's some "sort" of issue with the new mobile nvidia cards as it doesn't affect everyone in the same way.

For me it doesn't work in XP, Vista, & Vista x64. I'm running out of options here. The game runs like silk on my desktop 7600gt with 163.11 drivers on Vista Ultimate.

That's why I don't understand it. In XP, the menus are slow, and the gameplay is decent in the midfield, but when the ball goes anywhere near the box on either end of the field it slows to a crawl. Vista is poor all over the field.

Edit: Just installed Vista x64 for the second time and installed Fifa right away... menus are still slow but the gameplay is pretty smooth @ 1280 x 1024. Gonna start installing everything else and see if it messes up.

I'm really disappointed in the FIFA team this year. I also bought madden and NHL and they both run really well at high resolutions but FIFA has so many issues (and looks very similar to 07), I wish I could get my money back.

fifa does need a complete face lift. if you look at PES, those graphics really look great. but fifa 2008 still looks like fifa 2004 (to exaggerate a bit)

edit: still like fifa more though, mostly because of the licenses

Ya the licenses are key. To be honest though, I only like FIFA because of the Career Expansion Pack modules and Stadium/Kit add ons you can download from third party sources. Right now with all the add ons, Fifa 07 looks better & plays more realistically than 08.

Looks like we're going to wait for an EA patch to solve this problem!
If some of us have no problems on Vista and if some of us have no problem with several Video/Graphic Cards, logic tells us that it's a FIFA2008 problem!
Either way I won't be playing this game any soon... I have no big expectations on EA actually making a patch...

Like I read in this topic, It's not acceptable to have great specs on your laptop and not being able to play a game!
