Any one here play this game now. I was thinking of going back to it now after like a year. Did the game GFX engine get better. Does it scale well on 900p. And is there still a great and mature community like when i played it.

:D yup even with all the updates to help bring in more new players the old cities are still dead. Games full of nothing but gillsellers and people with no life at this point. Better off finding a new game to play.

There are still around 600 000 subscribers, so it's not dead. Exept WoW subscribers base it's a quite large number for a P2P MMO, so yeah..you won't be dissapointed when returning.

The community is the same as always. Quiet, but helpful. If you have friends playng it then you'll be having fun. :)

Hmm akuma. So you play the game?

will is be able to meet alot of players and the game, i dont want to be confined to the people in a linkshell or just friends in the game. i like to see people around when im playing a game. But it sounds the like the population is the same since last november. I might go back. For a few and see how my LS is doing.

Hope they make the graphics engine better though.

i think the only way they could get more people to join is go free. there have been many games that have gone from pay monthly to free in order to keep things going - hell if it went free to play online then i would get it! i jst refuse to pay a monthly fee on a game that i have already bought

there are so many online games that i would play BUT i just refuse to pay every month to play a game after buying it.

i was thinking of playing Guild Wars but after playing the trial for less then 5hours i got to level 13 with the limit being 20 that was really crap i need something that will last

I don't mind the monthly fee as long as the game is interesting enough that I don't feel the need to go out and buy other games. The thing that really kills it for me is how mmo economy is so easily ruined by rmt.

Hey can you explain these private servers to me? I looked into it before for ffxi, but everyone said it was impossible because you have to use POL to log into Square enix servers. I'd play some of the other mmos if I could use a private server.

no i meant the Private Servers for WoW. i think FFXI private servers wount be out for a while. So i would stay on top of that. Once they do make a Private server i will be the first one on it. especially since they will most likely have higher XP rates.

    Yes... go to www.burning-wow.com

and sign up on the server and do what it tells you to do. Do not update to the 3.0 patches or it will not work.

The game's not dead. There's enough people playing that Square-Enix is working on some new mini-expansion packs. It's also much faster at the lower levels now, and they have other ways to get EXP than just grinding.

I've been playing for five years now. Ugh. I have several L75 jobs but my schedule prohibits much endgame stuff, I usually just pop in, do a little casual playing, then bazaar most of the time selling stuff.

Hagino of Phoenix? I quit a few months ago, played for 2 years. WoTG was let down, and I was bored of doing the same things they had since the beginning. Had a very well off character, 75 nin sam rng... gave it all away to friends. Great community but very divided. Too much drama...

I played for 3 years, quit, and went back twice in 2007. Wasn't really the game that I missed, it was the community. I only stayed a month, the game is really over IMO, everything they add, just stacks on everything else. You miss it, then get in the game again, and rediscover why you quit the first time lol.

Since then I've played WoW, and Warhammer, and I'm not a fan of the WoW style MMO, too easy, I actually like the grind in FFXI, and loved the subjob class system.

FFXI was an amazing game, and I had an awesome time playing, and met some great friends. But it's done.

But... I would definitely try a new Final Fantasy MMO if were close to FFXI and not another WoW clone.

Man, never thought I'd find an old friend here haha. I played Rajah.. the mithra. I guess I grew out of it, lost the urge to play and decided it was time to quit. I'm good with quitting.. I miss it sometimes but really, it takes up way too much time and took away from social life. Nowadays I can play CoD or crysis or whatever, and be able to stop as I please, in FFXI I get involved in partying or an event and I'm looked down on for running. It's really a great way to waste time.. but if you don't have time or people want your time it's not a good thing to become addicted xD

    >.> good point there anothergeek. FFxi is one of the only games that makes you completely rely on playing with others. Some one mentioned there was another way to get exp besides grind, but I've never heard of such a way. I played wow for only 3 days and the one good thing I got out of it was being able to exp by myself and not have to be able to turn my computer off without listening to people complain about me needed to get some sleep.

Eroitsune, im going back to it. I am Antios of the Bahamut server. I had alotta fun playing the game. But it was so boring on the PS2. Now that i got my FX im going back to it and play it on max settings. It was a very good looking game on PS2. I can only imagine how it would look on PC.

Oh and i have heard that it looks better on 360 than on PC. Why is that?

I still play FFXI on Ragnarok. Plenty of people play, game is far from dead.

Doing a /sea all and there are still around 2000-3000 people at anyone time playing, same as it was years ago when I started.

The game is more time consuming, can't do anything on your own, but that's part of the game's charm. Forces you to interact with other people.

And besides, the character design is top notch. xD Much much more pleasing to the eyes than other MMORPGs, can you say, Mithras?

I played it long ago before the expansions. It was too broken. If you were not a wanted class you were SOL in higher levels. I had a near max level dragoon, with a half level thief & dark knight and I would sit in Jeuno for hours looking for a party. Unless I had an entire day of time to donate to play I could get nothing done.

All that time wasted in game I could have been doing something in real life...

I finally quit and moved to WoW, I stayed there for a long time until i got sort of the same way when you could only do nthing but massive raids that took forever to form.

FFXI had some things I really liked, it was more hardcore, I liked the environments and graphics, I loved the battle system, I really liked the idea that JP & US players got to play together (though most JP parties would not let you in) but it was broken in too many ways to make up for the flaws.

I love how I could make more money with a new toon farming fire crystals than I could at max level where I could not solo anything and the lower level mobs dont drop anything anymore. When I say I love I mean sarcasm.

I think the best MMO overall was the Phantasy Star series, it was very pick up and play. If you only had an hour to play you could play just or an hour and get something done. It was very fun, you could join or leave a party at any time without really causing a problem, you could solo, you could socialize, you could run a shop.

It was a great game, it just got a bit repetitive after a while. Oh and it had the hottest chars of all and also let you play with JP so bonus points there :p
