ahh yes the art of player controlled polygons beating up forever spawning computer controlled polygons in hopes of obtaining digital items to power up their make believe character.
did I mention the monthly fee? that makes it even better -
@fzhfzh
As far as i know, you can grab beta key from 1. september 02:00 (i guess)
This is quotation from notification mail they sent me

The only thing that looked nice was the graphic

lol, just want to try a new big name mmorpg, wow is getting boring now that all contents are cleared and will probably have to wait forever for cataclysm.
-
wow this game looks slow as hell and boring, the graphics are also nothing special. same as f11 no difference. have fun rofl
-
ok, fed up with the region thing, my country is not even in the region... yet they have all those pacific islands where probably less than 10 people even have internet connection... they excluded the whole of asia except for japan itself, great job on kicking away your potential customers with those rigid region stuff, I thought starcraft 2 was bad enough.
-
Definitely going to wait this one out.
Square-Enix's enormous success as a jRPG developer hasn't yielded much success in the MMORPG arena as of yet, and in spite of FF11, they're still very much new to this and so I expect a very raw product early on. -
Beta has been postponed according to the website due to critical bugs, no further date given either.
-
Wow, so much hate for an mmo, cool your guns people, just a game.....

Guild Wars 2!
Guild Wars 2!
Or no MMO at all for me. Guild Wars 2 is the only hope I have of playing an MMO. I'm done with WoW, and I'm not returning. FF XIV visually looks awesome, but the classes, skills and gameplay already bore me from the reviews, videos etc. -

kind of duh that it will have a monthly fee, and yes it will have a monthly fee. How else are they going to earn money from it, for MMORPG it's either the monthly fee or the cash shop, cash shops usually ruin games, so I would very much prefer monthly fee.
-
O well, playing another mmorp would probably ruin my entire education career anyway. -
Nope £8.99 a month...lol
-
This thread is about FFXIV, NOT Guild Wars 2. If you want to promote and discuss something else, make another thread on it. Several posts have been deleted. Further trolling comments may result in infractions.

While beating up computer controlled polygons I have more than one great "war story" to share with friends from across the ocean when they come to visit and had many a reason to go visit someone I know very well, but have never seen in person. (I hate region-locked software)
FYI, most entertainment has a fee of some sort... and most are INSANELY higher than MMOs. After all, almost any activity where a meeting of people is possible requires maintenance of SOME sort for the meeting place.
Sure, I could head off to the bar, a buddies place, or host beer+hockey/football/madden/etc, but frankly all of those cost a LOT more than an MMO... also, internet interaction is sometimes all you want...
I'd pay for a RL ignore/mute button some nights...
FF MMOs tend to have decent content... I just wish their system wasn't quite as ironclad when it comes to party-or-don't-advance. Much like early MMOs like Everquest... solo was basically suicide. I tend to favor games which parties are MUCH better and players band together more often as the ruleset encourages, but solo is possible while you look for one so it doesn't FORCE it. -

Haven't played WoW in over two months now. -
Really? I used to play WoW on a GMA950 which was really poor but still managed to get a good FPS with most settings on low.
FF14 I scored: High: 1524 Low 2105 with my setup - sig. With SLI
I probably wont play it as I tried to tear my soul away from MMporgs after I left WoW and lost 4 stone but even so its nice to know I could possibly get away with it if I wanted to. Must resist!!! -
You can get the benchmark here: FINAL FANTASY XIV Official Benchmark
Please let me know how much you get at high and low resolution.
Thanks! -
Too bad Open Beta is delayed. I'm looking forward to making this my first MMO.
-
So when is the official release date if the open beta is delayed or will it still be released on time?
-
Yeah dam, i had some spare time today.

I know it has to do with my graphics card, but would there be any other things that I might need to upgrade along with it? My computer Score is above if you did not see it. What is a descent, good, and excellent upgrade and what are their prices? I heard I might have to change my power supply if I get a new graphics card. I have a core 2 Quad so I am guessing my power supply is atleast 350 watts. I can't imagine Dell giving me anything better, lol.
Is it possible to get an upgrade for under $100 or close to it? I looked at some cards and found a couple of these from this link that ranks "best graphics card for the money."
Best Graphics Cards For The Money: July 2010 : July Updates
Let me know if if the graphics card around 100 are worth getting for a game like FF. I only play RPG's on my computer. I own the new 360 and use that for any type of gaming.
Thank you for the help. You guys have fun playing the FF beta. I have to find a job myself before I can buy a graphics card, but hopefully that is soon. I need one quickly. -
Actually i don't know, i'm sorry.
I have a desktop actually, and need to buy a notebook. The default asus g73 benchmark score was even lower than my desktop (bought it 1 year and half ago), so i wonder if i can get decent result with a notebook. -
Minimum passmark is 1500 for FF14 benchmark but you cant go on this as it is just a test and will not give an accurate reading to how the game will run. The fact im hitting over 2000 with my SLI setup is quite astonishing however before updating my drivers and running it in fullscreen I was barely getting over 1000.
DMAC you would struggle to run even the older MMO's with that integrated chip as I said I was using a GMA950 with WoW and that was barely playable. I think you would even struggle to run the benchmark for FF11 that is available. There are plenty of posts about that advise you on the best gaming laptop to get and even which one will give you the best bang for buck. I took a hunch and got my G70 only because I always wanted it when it first came out but wouldnt dare cough up £2k for it with 8700M GT SLI setup which is ancient. I managed to get it for £500.00 brand new from Asus with a 2 year warranty so I was chuffed and it runs most games at full so you dont need to spend to much to get a good setup!
Also are you running a Desktop as this is a notebook forum and you wouldnt be able to upgrade your Notebook unless it has a separate slot for a dedicated GPU which is doubtful with a integrated chip fitted. Best thing you can do is take a look at the latest models out there and take a look on ebay to see if you can pick one up cheap.
Final Fantasy XIV NDA is DONE!
