There is also a mod to make FF7 PC look better. I can't remember at the moment the link but you can probably google for it. Not only does it make it look better in the sense of better resolutions, but it's also a leap in graphics overhaul. They get to have hands!!!
I could have posted links for emulators but I wasn't sure if the mods would allow it since it's a blur line there. You can have ISOs of your games as long as you own a copy of it. Another thing, these games are technology from before 2000 (IX and below), it really doesn't matter whether you play them on a PS/PS2 or computer, they will not look that pretty anyway so save yourself a buck and use emulators. Though if you want to play another games like Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Devil May Cry, Castlevania, Metal Gear Solid and others, then it's better to get a PS2.

however the music is much better on PS1. FF7 uses midi on pc, and I think FF8 does to. And thats a large portion of the game right there.
-
This forum is pretty strict. Linking to the ISO's is forbidden here. If you want to do that stuff, its best do it through Private Messages or AIM/MSN/Yahoo etc.
-
-
I'm pretty sure it's midi. I distinctly remember it sounding way better in the PS than the PC.
-
ok i bought FF VIII for PC ( i dont want to get a console or emtalontor)...but i have to ask......are there any games out there that have REALLY good and touching stories that ARE MADE FOR PC?????
-
what is this doing in gaming?
i thought that gaming was for, "can my card run X game?"
i think it's pretty obvious that all cards can run FF
i'm aware it says software too, but i thought software meant graphics card drivers, overclocking programs, etc...
so is game reviewing allowed in this section too? -
"Gaming (Software and Graphics Cards) Talk about games and mobile graphics cards here"
-
i'm under the impression that the "software" is talking about benchmark and overclocking programs as there are no other game review threads

I think FF7 play good on TV, but if you have a big TV then it may not look good, the game was made in 1995 when 20 inch TV is popular, so maybe the game dont look good with big TV, LCD. It may look good on PC because the PC monitor is kinda small, plus the game's resolution is low. Overall it is an old game, very old but it so good. SquareEnix is planning to remake it for the PS3, though it was 1st rumour for the PS2.
So far, good story game for PC is NeverWinter Night,i think its story is good
There maybe more but I cant remember now, to me, good story mean unpredictable, good guys turn to bad guys or no bad guys at all, dungeon seige 2 is also good too.
Anyone suggest more? -
uhm, never winter nights and DS2's story sucked. Best reason to play those was for the gameplay, not the story.
Lets see, best storys for PC, generaly you want to look at adventure games. Saddly they died out long ago, lucas arts had awsome ones though. Day of the tenticle (Maniac mansion 2) and full throttle are 2 of my favorits, and while obtaining either now can be real tricky, they both play fine in windows using the SCUMM emulator. One of lucas arts last adventure games was Grim Fandango wich was also great and I think it runs in windows. I think monkey island 3 came out a while after grim, and while its quite good, just didn't contain the great character designs and interesting plot as the others games.
I heard Fallout 1 and 2 had good storylines, but I never got around to trying them out as its graphics were pretty dated for their time (pre rendered 2d when 3d was the norm in rpg like games then).
As for the purpose of the group, it seems obviouse that its generaly about laptop video hardware, and how games run on them. IMO looking for games wich you can run on laptops falls into the 2nd. -
Psychonauts has a great story, it was created by some of the people who worked on Grim Fandango.
Also, FFVII is not going to be remade, that was a Tech Demo supposedly showing the power of the PS3, it is NOT a remake of FFVII. -
Actually it was confirmed a while ago that they will be remaking FFVII. Its going to be using the battle system of FF12.

best foot, hmm, I heard they are exploring a remake on ps3, but I wouldnt hold much onto that battle system change. Materia was a good chunk of what made ff7. ^^
Saddly it will probably be on ps3 first.. wich means I wont see it. When ps3 dies quickly, hopefully square will port it over. -

I did read some time ago that there was a possiblity of SquareEnix doing a remake for the ps3. It this is true then the temptation may be too great
-
I'm sure they wont remove materia. It'll probably be intigrated into the system in some way.
-
Could I have a link to an article about this Twilight?
-
I read it in a Game Informer magazine a few months ago.
-
OK, I've been meaning to re-subscribe to Game Informer for a while, maybe I should try to follow that up with action.
-
Regarding the OP question whether if there are good games with good storyline, try the KOTOR series. Great storyline, kind of made me remember why I liked Star Wars in the first place, but be aware that KOTOR II is buggy as hell (though I hardly had crashes with it). -
they should make a movie for FFX and FFx2 and bring those games to the PC....ok ok i know console is more popular for gamming than the pc, but i love pc and i want games on it!!!! also they should remake FFVII and VIII and X and X2 for the PC......
-
What about IX? And I, II, III, IV, V and VI?
-
So you've seen the AC movie, deedee??? How are you enjoying FF8 so far?
-
KOTOR ROCKS!!!!!

I'm having some trouble running FFIX (psx copy). I have ePSXe, the gpu plugin (pete's opengl something or other), the sound plugin and a bios (SCHP7502 pal region that is), but when I select run from cdrom, the screen turns black and nothing happens. Any ideas?
-
Hmmm..... it's been a while since I've played it in a computer ... did you try running it with Pete's D3D plugin??? D3D has worked better for me than OpenGL. I remember that it had problems when it first came out but I don't think that's the case anymore.
Btw, the remake of FF7, is not official ... if it was, I would know!! Unless it hasn't been posted anywhere on the web.
Final Fantasy???
