I saw Dell XPS m1730 with 9800m GT SLI at www.dell.com. Also the laptop starts at 1699 with the latest GPU price included. I think its a pricing error.
So guys grab ur soon if ur intending to buy one.

Yes but the benchmarks shows that 9800m gt is faster than 8800m. Also price wise 9800m gt is being sold for 100% discount as everyone was paying 1k for GPU till last week.

No real benchmark, run with the same drivers and CPU, will show any tangible difference, because there isn't one.

they have to let it go for cheap. not that many people is buying them anymore. because if the santa rosa chipset, ram stuck at ddr2 667(mobo) and many more. if they did this around november when the m17(whitebook) was released, they would of flew of the shelf.

but dont get me wrong, if i knew this was going to happen, it would be very hard to decide between my notebook and that. just look at it.

Dell is getting desperate since their high-end stuff is pretty outdated.

But that is a pretty sweet price point.... feels like a Arima W840 DI kind of performance/cost ratio. :)

its a pretty nice deal considering the old price, but nothing that groundbreaking unless someone can find coupons that work on it.

for gaming wise and looks this would be better.

but for everything else the M17(whitebook) i think is better by far.

    with whitebook
stranger says "what's that." you say "it's my Ocz Whitebook" strangters thinks "what part of it is white"
    with m1730
stranger says "OMG you have a XPS?" you say "no duh what does it say in the back?" stranger walks away because he feels stupid.
    with m17
stranger says "OMG i alwaays wanted an alienware arent they about 1000000 dollars." you smile and chuckle "yes why you want to buy it from me?" stranger walks away because he only has a couple of dollars in his pocket right now.

No I have the XPS M1730 myself and compared benchmarks against the Sager guys a long time ago. There was no difference in performance between the 8800m GTX and the 9800m GT. 9800m GTX is another story but no big difference there either.

Honestly I doubt there is a difference between the 9800M GT and the 8800M GTX, they're the same cards, but I heard the 9800M GTX is coming, so, I'll be looking forward for that :D If not, then I'll make Dell change my 8800's to the 9800's just for the fun of it :p

Also, I really hope they don't drop the XPS line. They have great build quality and performance! (Well, as long as they're up to date)

But I feel its a preety good price compared to other laptops with 9800m. Also 90% of games are GPU limited but not CPU limited. So, I think 9800M GTX will also be offered preety soon. I dont know if that good news for others but yes, its for the one who own the M1730 as its the unexpected upgrade.

The 9800M GTX is already offered on the M1730, at least it is in some regions. To upgrade from 9800M GT Sli to 9800M GTX Sli costs €300 over here.

All this is kind of stupid considering the GTX260M and 280M are just a few weeks away. I know they are not much better (just more of the same G92), but initial news says they will be much better value.

So basically Dell is waiting until a few weeks before the 9800M GTX is replaced to offer it, and then putting it in a laptop that is already obsolete a long time ago (old Santa Rosa platform).

lol i would have had toruble decideing on the xps or OCZ Whitebook but i still would have chose this because of the montevina platform n 4870's..... but looks like the XPS is cheaper then the M17x with 9800gt WHOA

Yeah but is with the 1440*900 Lcd. and that weak Cpu cant handle games as well as the other Cpu's. don't forget ati's depends on the cpu. any cpu upgrade improves performance.

I dont think it really matters if its santa or banta or monta...
A cache size or 1066fsb instead of 800 doesnot matter to me at all.
All I need is a beast gpu and X9000 is more than enough. If someone really counts all fsb and stuff then better get a Alienware desktop with gtx295 and quad sli instead of a laptop.
