(There is an actual request for advice down the bottom)
For the last two years, I've been searching for an RPG to keep me up til 3am when I need to be up at work at 6 the next day, since my love for Diablo 2 faded, and after many visits to EB, and close to a dozen disappointing purchases (including Sacred, Divine/Beyond Divinity, Gothik 3, Stranger and Dungeon Lords ~spit~) I found it.
Titans Quest might as well be Diablo 3, as far as I'm concerned.
It's the same gameplay, but with better graphics, character attribute/skill system (imo), sidequests... Yeah. I just have a massive hard-on for this game right now, it's like the best bits of Diablo and Guild Wars (and Age of Mythology, I spose) with the entire Greek Mythos standing between you and where you need to be.
My weekend was composed of TQ LAN, Motorbikes, and Toasted Cheese sandwiches, and I'm ready to declare this the triumvirate of win.
Any RPG fan who (like me) has let this game slip them by owes it to themselves to shell out the twenty bucks and give it a shot while the wait for Diablo 3 continues.
As far as the problem goes, there are sometimes graphical glitches like an artifact that take up up to half the screen (I mistook it for a lightning strike twice lol).
Not enough to dull the experience, but does anyone know of any way to fix/improve it?

Yeah it's awesome. I got it back in February, and played it pretty much non-stop for a couple weeks lol, but I haven't picked it up for a while. I'm in a close in cavernous area (won't spoil just in case) and I those parts. I like to be outside in the nice warm sunshine killing lots of goat-men. I have numerous friends with the game, but we never really coordinate about teaming up on it lol though I would greatly enjoy doing so.
But yes, it's a great if not excellent game for it's kind, however I've never played any other RPG of it's type like Diablo or whatever else. I just love the setting and the look of the game. I have a thing for 2004-2005 era graphics. They don't look so realistic that it makes it seem like real life but they are still very nice as to draw you into it's own unique world. Plus it was when developers were starting to get a nice grasp of full lighting and shadowing systems, so I find it technically interesting -
The game certainly looked very good to me but the graphics is sooooo bad....(IMO)
I just couldn't stand the way the game looks (it has a weird isometric style) and couldn't force myself to play it... -
Graphics are as good as Diablo 3 screensots we have been seen.
Anyways I agree, the game is great. Two best ARPG's are without a doubt are Sacred 2 : Fallen Angel and Titan Quest.
And OP, for that problem you should patch the game with offical patches and two must-have unoffical ones, then it's perfect.

it's a solid action rpg but not as polished as diablo 2 and it starts to drag after 20 hours into the game. i'm not sure how you can compare TQ to diablo 3. as with all blizzard games, the graphical magic happens when there are tons of enemies and spell effects on screen and when everything is in motion. in terms of gameplay and addictiveness, TQ is prolly the closest thing to a diablo clone.

I sounds very decent, but i had read acouple of things i thought could be faults, and the main one was when looting you could end up scoring the best armor or weapon in the game early on?...if thats the case i couldnt play it, for me part of the whole idea of ARPG's is being able to upgrade and find better equipment etc, and the thought that i could end up keeping the same armor or weapon right to the end was what ultimately led me towards sacred2 fallen angel instead. Would like to hear from a user if this is the case or not.
Anyway OP really glad you are enjoying it. -
No, you can't find Legendary items until at least the second playthrough (higher difficulty). So there's no way you can find the best items early.

Ok thanks, but i wasnt so much talking about special equipment after unlocking harder difficulty settings, more that the equipment isnt level capped (i saw in a review) so you could end up finding a weapon that is as good as anything you might find hours later, which would take some of the enjoyment of looting out of it for me, to the point where i couldnt play it.....but this isnt fact i cant find that review and may have imagined it completely.

Or maybe the RNG just doesn't like me enough XD -

Ok thanks for that, looks like ill have to go and buy it then......cheers

But anyway, an excellent game. I've been playing it on and off for a while now, racking up who knows how many tens (hundreds?) of hours. Actually tells something about the rarity of special items that I've still yet to find a complete set of one of those special armours. Kind of a good thing they implemented the storage thingy in the add-on where you can transfer goods from one character you're playing to another. Although you have to take in account that it does take away from finding new stuff if you start a new character, since there will probably already be a good, low-level weapon or some other thing in the storage and you'll be lucky to find something like it on your own.
Still, highly recommended. Just be prepared to grind heavily if you want to manage on a fighter. I played my first game sort of wrongly so that my dual-wielding hero was too weak to beat the end-boss the way I wanted (that is, swords where I had specialized) and I had to resort to shooting it with a bow. Some close range guy I had... -
Now to your problem it might be because I've noticed you have overclocked your graphic card quite a lot. It might be stable for other games even 3DMark06 benchmark tool or other tools but there are some games that don't like overclocking that much and will start behaving strangely. So I would recommend to lower the clocks a bit since you will be able to play the game in high settings anyway. With the card you have you shouldn't need to overclock in the first place.
I don't know if you bought the gold edition with all the patches and expensions in there otherwise you might need to install the patches for the game. -
Titan Quest is one of my all-time favourite games. The itemization is unreal. I played the heck out of that game and I still hadn't scratched the surface of the items that were available.
I'd started on the 3rd playthrough (is that Legendary? can't remember) and I still hadn't completed a Purple set, so you really can't get the best gear at lower levels. Some of those Boss fights were a blast although frustrating to learn.
Maybe I should bring it out of retirement.... -

I've played Titan Quest on and off for the past 2 years and every time I think I need to play some Diablo 2 I play it instead (already beaten D2 LOD more times than I remember). Yeah the developer for this game went bust after they released the expansion if I'm not mistaken. Even though the game is a few years old ramp up the graphics and it can still cause some stuttering, especially when walking through a forest.

Beat it. Loved it. Would recommend to everyone.

Is this a bad time to mention to people that getting elite awesome gear isn't so hard, given that (apparently) duping etc is just as rampant on TQ online as on D2 at its peak?
@nklive I'm not overclocking at all (I don't bother anymore since tweaking settings effectively usually gives me better results). But I'm gonna try the patches when I get access to unblocked internet (unless anyone wants to upload the patches to a filesharing site? ~bats eyelashes~)
Finally found my new Nirvana (Titan Quest)
