CD Projekt RED Speaks Out Against DRM Rumors | Elder-Geek.com
*Applauds*
Now if only other companies *COUGH UBISOFT COUGH* follow their lead, then maybe pirates will be more inclined to actually buy the game! SHOCKING!

Ahhh well thank you for not incriminating the paying customer. I planned to buy this anyways but this is some more incentive.
-
Wow finally a game that's I'm looking forward to which actually isn't heavy on the DRM o_o
-
I wasn't a huge fan of the first Witcher, but I'll definitely be buying this sequel in support of their take on DRM. I hope this becomes the top selling game for a while just to show the other idiots, ahem, developers that everyone isn't a pirate and a thief, and that we actually like to support good games and lack of DRM.
-
I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE The Witcher, it's good that the franchise is in good hands. the least we can do is go out and buy this game to show the other idiots in the industry the right way to do it.
-
If they have pre-orders, I'll buy-in, even if just for the principle-

Shadowfate Wala pa rin ako maisip e.
If they have another game that I like that will have this(Sorry I dont like Witcher).
I really do hope some other games i like will have this. -
Not to downplay the significance of this announcement, but CD Projekt isn't really taking the lead here. They seem to be following the lead of Stardock with their policy (the so-called Gamer's Bill of Rights) from back in '08.
Nevertheless, bravo, CD Projekt! I will almost definitely buy Witcher 2 (I was likely to before, but now my decision is influenced slightly less by the quality of the game and more in support of their stance on Gamers' Rights). Here's to hoping this snowballs as more and more developers follow step, and earn gamers' support, keeping the PC gaming industry alive. -
Heh, I knew they had brain, The Witcher is one of the best games I've played.
-
Ubisoft is a publisher that happens to own a few development studios. Most real developers have a brain but are forced to suppress it due to management's upper level stupidity.
-
I'm also a legitimate The Witcher owner and I plan to get the next one. Although I was unaware that American version was cersored but its still a superb game. No DRM allows me to switch between computers.
-
I'm willing to try it

And now watch them choose Steamworks.
-
Well, crossing my fingers, Blizzard published a similar article sometime back for SC2, and look at where they are now...
-
Steamworks is better than the Ubisoft solution, so it would not be all that bad.

Seriously, their DRM is functionally no different from Stardock's, unless I'm missing something big. -

Well the DRM on SC2 ain't bad at all... it's all the other limitations that come with it (region locked, RealID, etc) that people are complaining about.

For SC2, I'm not sure if they will even let you save your game if you didn't login to Bnet. -
for those of you that has censored version, you can download the uncensored version along with a no disc patch on their official website.
-
CD Projekt RED run GOG as well, all of the games they have there are DRM-free and have been since the developer decided TAGES really wasn't the best way to go for the original Witcher.
At least they haven't caved in and joined the huge bandwagon in support of increasingly invasive copy-protection.
Edit: Small mistake, RED is the production studio for the Witcher. The parent company run GOG, I only remember this since they did a small announcement of the website while I was still playing the Witcher. -

Lots to like about this company, it seems.

As far as I understand, you don't have to log in to Bnet to save a single-player game. That would be functionally nearly the same as UbiEvil DRM. -

I hope you don't have to log into Bnet to just save... That'd be ridiculous.
