    is this driver overclockable?

I wasn't able to overclock the 174.12 drivers, and had to go back to the 169.04 drivers

People say these drivers make your GPU temps too high. Might try them out after I play some Bioshock :p

i tried with rivatuner and nTune, everytime I hit applied, the sliders resetted themselves back to the default.

Is there some kind of registry change I'm suppose to do so that nTune will apply the settings and stick with it?

Or is it my graphics card? nvidia 64mb ddr3 8400m gs

Hmm I could overclock on 174.12, ATI tools allowed me to. Either way what I did was flash my Bios so default settings are always overclocked on 8600m GT.

Overclocked it from 475/400 to 660/515.

    I get about 4723 3dmarks06.

Have Vostro 1700 2.2 ghz, 3 gig ram, 8600m GT.

Im going to try these new drivers out and compare 3d marks.

    Wish me luck =)

so if it says its only for the 9600gt officialy, where does that leave using it for the 8600gt ?

does it mean the modded inf is just sort of hacking a 9600gt card to work on the 8600 ?

with all the beta drivers for ages, why hasnt there been an official non beta dedicated 8600gt driver ?? or when what is the last ?

im guessing that i should do these drivers rather than the 174.12 since these are non-beta??

Please read all posts in thread before posting =)

Any who I had the 174.12, installed 174.16, I have same performance and 3dmarks06 score.

This works fine with 8600m GT.

It says officially for 9600, but in reality I think it is saying that it is adding support for 9600, all previous supported cards still work. Im using it now with no problems =)

Yeah it adds support its not a driver specifically for the 9600. Just installed it.

Weird: My cod has dropped by 5 fps while need for speed and penumbra demos have taken a nice boost in performance. I recently uninstalled a bunch of my games so not many more games to test on.

nVidia provides UDA (Unified Driver Architecture) which means, with a right modded inf, unless you have an abandoned GPU, the driver should work for all their released desktop/laptop GPUs.
Thats why we can use desktop's drivers on laptops.

Including just one .INF (9600GT) is plain ridiculous.

i installed them last night, got around 30 extra 3d mark points , had a bit of a test on some games, and will be testing more today

I am going to try these tonight because my 8800m GTX sli is not giving a good enough 3d mark 06 score (10800, I know thats fast but others have said the sli config w 2.4 ghz core 2 duo should be getting around 12000 - 13000). My current driver is 167.xxxx

Anyway sorry if this is stupid question. I presume I need to remove my old drivers first via add/remove programs then install these? By installing these will i retain the nVidia control panel etc?

Or can I download, not remove my old drivers & install these? I just am concerned that if the drivers cause me an issue I will not be able to roll back to the old driver because I have un-installed it previously.

Also has anyone else had a good improvement on the 8800m GTX sli with these? Under 167.xxxx using single card I get about 8,800 & under sli about 10,800 in 3dmark 06.

I am running Vista 32 bit.

I am having troubles aswell. One thing I have noticed is that when I go to the extract the file it doesnt automatically create a new folder so I just manually create a new one and extract to the new folder. Would this have an effect on the updating process?

download the driver package, and the modded inf

make a folder on desktop , place the driver package inside and unzip it in that folder, then go back to desktop, right click on the modded inf, then go back to the folder and right click..paste, then it should ask if you want to replace the file, click yes

then follow the have disk method, and when you choose the location of the driver to install, go to the desktop folder, and onlty 1 file should show up,the nsp inf one !

not sure if you can oc them, presume so, and yes the .12 were beta, and this is the official one, so a light update somewhere

just been playing pro evo soccer 2008. and had shiney textures on edes of the kits, and replays were abit jerky and also other sligh jerks and stuff and things were not as crisp as before, so im going back
