Hey guys, I have 2 questions-
    1. Amd firepro m8900 vs 6970m- how much is the performance difference? They're basically the same cards. How much difference do the drivers make? Can Radeon drivers be used on FirePro to make them perform similarly?
    2. Which desktop GPU would be the equivalent of GTX460m

Well, I can only answer your second question. The desktop equivalent of the GTX 460M is the GTS 450M (albeit the GTS 450 being slightly higher clocked).

You mean the gts450 is a higher clocked gtx460m. So it should perform better than it? Also gts450m has 128bit memory vs 192bit in 460m, which is better and how much performance will be affected?
What about ATI, which radeon would perform equally

The FirePro will only be weaker due to its BIOS modifications by like 300-500 3DMarks06 from the actual Radeon equivalent. In real-life performance, it is almost negligible. Also, you can mod Catalyst drivers to work with FirePros, as you can see in my signature, that is what I did. :D

Hi,is there any chance you can share how you've modded Radeon 6xxxm to Fire Pro? Or maybe indicate where can we find the solution, I have just ordered a laptop with HD6770m which has M5950 eqivalent so it prabobly can be modded the same way?

I would also be interested in how you were able to use Catalyst drivers with a M8900 FirePro.

I am looking to purchase the same spces M6600 you have and hopefully will be using it at college this fall.

I will be mainly using it for CAD (Autocad, Inventor, possibly Solidworks), but I would like to use it for moderate gaming (mainly RTS games), so I can give my son my Gateway M-6862 for his own use.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.
