It's nice to know there are game developers now that are trying to optimize DX10.
Too bad I already have the 360 version.

This is good news, I plan on getting this game when it comes out. Best part is my birthday is a week after the release date. w00t!

The other thread in this forum has it running in DX9 mode, and if the DX10 mode will improve performance......I am really looking forward to having 30+ fps constantly. :)

That first link...did anyone read the interview? It's like the interviewer deliberately ignored everything the guy was telling him.

"So what new DX10 features are being implemented?"
"No new features. We're just using DX10 to optimize it."

"So what kind of performance impact will the new DX10 visuals have?"
    "..."

Probably the interviewer just reading down the list of pre-prepared questions.

this is not the first game to run in dx 10 faster than dx 9.

lost planet, i think, was another?

either way, i'm wary about this. i mean, if they say its true, i believe them, but what would be REALLY interesting is if a game ran faster in VISTA DX10 than XP DX9, which has not yet happened, and they made no mention of xp.

In article they say Dx10 will be "much faster" than Dx9. I wonder what constitutes "much"?

I don't doubt that DirectX 10 will eventually work out as hardware becomes faster, but I want to see the unbiased benchmarks that verify this claim. To date every single game that is DirectX 10 *and* DirectX 9 the Dx10 variant has always taken a performance hit.

Well, in that DX10 != DX9 performance equation, you forgot to add in the fact that the developer of Assasin Creed didn't implement any new DX10 features instead they use the shorter API calls of DX10 to optimize the performance of the game. I am guess this is the fundamental reason why this game is able to achieve higher frames in DX10 while lower in DX9, because all the new more demanding stuff are not used at all. While in all the other DX10 games have used some sort of new features, that could account for the decrease in performance.

again, lost planet did the same thing. dx 10 was faster. just throwing it out there. however, the windows xp build was the fastest. im guessing the same thing may end up happening here, with assassin's creed.

    dx 9 xp > dx 10 vista > dx 9 vista

again, just to be clear, lost planet already showed us that this is possible. lost planet was the first game to perform better in vista dx10 vs vista dx9

that may have been due to older drivers though. Lost planet was old and when drivers weren't optimized for vista yet.

Back when I reviewed the p-6831fx with updated drivers, it still ran faster under dx10 in vista. I first noticed though back in october when I had a lenovo T61p

Yeah same here, Lost Planet ran faster in DX10 and with DX10 enhanced effects too than in DX9 XP and with more mature drivers it ran even faster :)

It doesn´t matter it they didn´t use any new content for Creed, this shows that with optimizations DX10 can run faster than DX9 even if they would have added any new content, maybe.

It's not worth getting the leaked version. Apparently it crashes at Jerusalem, which makes it pretty useless.

It doesn't matter, if you buy your games anyways. Besides, the performance of the game will be better if you get it on the release date, why you might ask. Well there will be a dedicate Driver from Nvidia, there might be a patch that will fix things up, and it will not crash as mentioned by previous poster. Imo, it is not worth the extra month just to get a horrible first impression of the awesome game.
