*reminds that Windows 10 is needed for DX12*

I'll keep with windows 7 until at least 90% of the issues are ironed out of 10.

Windows 10 is designed to be anti-consumer. Even if the bugs are fixed, the artificial lockdowns on things like driver signature enforcement and the way updates are run (as even @TBoneSan discovered, they can turn themselves back on and screw with a PC) mean that the OS will forever be inferior to Windows Vista, 7, 8 and 8.1. Unless Micro$haft overhauls the entire OS' design with a Windows 10.1 lickety split, we're never going to be rid of the issues.

But since 99% of the world is content with Windows 10 because THEY don't have issues at the moment, and are quick to disbelieve the facts that it opens up vulnerabilities as shown with the whole screen bricking issue with nVidrosoft drivers, or how some peoples' motherboards just flat out up and die on them after Win 10, etc for the same reason, Micro$haft will never change it. It's one thing when 60% of your userbase says "screw your OS and everything about it". THAT prompts them into action, like with Win 8.1 coming out so fast after Win 8. But now? No. Everybody is happy that big daddy Micro$haft is looking after their PCs for them, and they won't change their minds until something bad happens to them.

So... I'm gonna say it here once and for all. I hope Windows 10 bricks EVERY SINGLE MOBO IT IS INSTALLED ON. I want every single user in the world to want to stay so far away from that OS that Micro$haft literally loses 50% of its marketshare or more, and is forced to actually work on a proper OS that doesn't cause problems for people. It's not a "nice" thing to wish for since a lot of good people are using Win 10 like @jaybee83, but I'm smart enough to know that unless there's a literal widespread panic, nothing will change. And that means some good people who know what they're doing will have to suffer too. But everybody will benefit in the end if it happens.

Here's something I'm seriously considering doing.

Being able to pass through the GPU is a big deal.
It's alot of work. It's workable with x99 too.

Option 2 is just going back to W7 and be done with it.

No thoughts on DX12 EMA? Personally I think it's an interesting proof of concept, but with dubious real-world practicality. And the frame times in the article still suck since it's still AFR.

That's a ton of work, and you're not guaranteed the same perf as in Windows. I'll just stick to W7
