So our home laptop (DV1000) fried and I am looking to buy a DV9500 from a friend. This of course has the 8600M GS GPU (2gigs ram as well). What can this thing run game-wise?
I play C&C3, EA Sports games, HL2, Thief 3, and would like to play some newer games as well such as TF2, maybe Crysis.
Any chance of that happening? I've read multiple pages/threads this morning (I'm at work) and really need to be working on couple of projects. Thanks for any feedback, really glad I found this forum![]()

The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
TF2 and the Orange Box should be fine at a medium res with high settings. Crysis no one can say for sure buts its gonna be a strech. Maybbe on a low res with high settings or a medium res with low settings. The beta is not a good indicator right now. BY medium res I mean 1280 x 1024.
Welcome to the Forums! I trust you will find your stay enjoyable. Chaz will be bringing out your refreshments shortly. -
I never got any refreshments.

neither have i...still waiting after almost a year lol \
back on the subject tho, u'll be able to play those games for sure, but what kind of settings do u expect to play them on? the newer games will be a lot more demanding. the older ones will do fine. if u expect to play on higher res, go with the 8600m gt(not gs) -
I'm almost scared to ask just what encompasses "refreshments"
Thanks again for any advice on my questions, really appreciate it. Not expecting to play at 1900x1200, just some decent detail and frame rates above 30 or so. -
refreshments as in salutary drinks for u, and possibly me and Cthulhu...cuz we didn't get any when we joined the forum! lol

So are you guys goofing off at work as well? Drinking on the job technically not allowed at my company but it's a Finnish company so I could probably get by with a sip of Vodka, lol.
I'm not happy to be buying a souped up laptop but with a 2.5 year old running around, my wife needs another one. Our main PC is in the basement and she really doesn't care for going down there all the time.
How will this laptop be when hooked up to projector or another (larger LCD, like 22" Acer)? -
u can hook it pretty easily, i assume, most laptops nowadays have ports to do that. all u'll need is a cable to hook up ur laptop to an external screen.
p.s. a vodka shot sounds like a plan right now...cheers
