So while you guys blow your money on these typical shooters such as blackops and MOH, I'll be patiently awaiting a game that will bring a far more sophisticated tactical game experience in Flashpoint 3: Red River.
....okay okay I'm picking up both blackops and moh......but seriously, this game could end the cod series for good...

-Awaits disappointed face-
But really, with all the call of duty fanboys out there, doubt anything will properly end the CoD series for good -
That's what they said about Flashpoint Dragon sinking.....
-
I actually think Dragon Rising is pretty good. So I look forward to Red River.

The problem is it has no name recognition with console gamers. Cod and Moh and Halo and all those other fps's have a name now, they have great exposure to the consumers and consumers eat it up because them and 5 of their buddies team up to play online. Doesnt matter how ground breaking a game may be, it need to have tons of advertising and word of mouth. Now im not saying this game wont, but if it gets just even a couple bad reviews people will skip it, because of buying a 60 dollar game that youve never played any other game in its series. Your talking for a "hardcore" gamers perspective, which I share, but the reality of most of my friends, and im sure yours only buy madden and cod because EVERYONE buys madden and cod!

You just lost about 99 percent of all 420 COD MW2 guys at this exact point " game that will bring a far more sophisticated tactical game experience in Flashpoint 3: Red River"...
If they can't camp the entire game or shoot continuous tubes of grenade smiting power then I wouldn't even worry about taking on the COD series...
<edit> In my opinion I am happy to see ANY shooter that is more tactical, and much less cheese...<edit>

To be honest, I thought ArmA would be great considering it was made by the same guys that made the original OFP. But I was a bit disappointed. On the other hand the Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising was pretty good. I didn't play real long but it reminded me a lot more of OFP than ArmA ever did.
I guess I'll have to finish Dragon Rising if OFP3 is coming along. -
You want a real man's game? play ARMA II.
-
But the plans Activision have for CoD, with high priced DLC and rumored premium subscription its a small chance they could kill it, unleashing n00bs into all the other games.
Lets hope that never happens. -
After the abysmal Dragon Rising this is a sure skip for me. Worst case of terminal consolitis I have ever seen.
Edit: Flashpoint: Red River A Real Game!!! sounds like a weak advertisement attempting to make up for Dragon Rising. lol Not like the last one, which clearly was no a Real Game but a Real Mess. ROFL!!!! -
Any trailers or previews?

i'm still traumatized from the original "operation flashpoint"
having tanks snipe you from almost half way across the globe, detecting you after only a fart... was not my definition of realism. -
Yeah, Operation Flashpoint had its share of issues. But it was fun nevertheless. Go under cover of night, prone, silenced weapons, shoot a guy in the dark, and the whole troop starts shooting right in your direction. Yeah, I'd say enemies were hyper sensitive, and shots a little too accurate. But look at Bad Company 2. I've been shot at half way across the map with an uzi or sidearm and die instantly.

@HT - Yeah, BFBC2 needs some help.. i am sure MOH will need help too. I played the beta and in my demo vid got spanked for tubing. It was literally the ONLY way I could get a kill with that weapon. The sniper rifle or recon took 4 shots to kill someone. That was one of my feedback complaints as that the weapons needed serious tuning. Looking at the MOH video's on steam it looks like its another unload an entire clip into someone game thats going to be seriously frustrating. You know, you see somebody (shoot), they see you (shoot) insert complex script to determine who dies here "INIT - ROCK PAPER SCISSORS -" ...
I do live ARMA 2 a lot. You can lose hours to that game and be like.. where did it go?
Take care, StevenX
Flashpoint: Red River - A real game.
