Laptop is in my sig. Problems occur both with SP1 and SP2 installed.

Seems to happen randomly, but most commonly when I try to change settings in-flight.

Basically the game will crash when trying to load, tell-tale sign is the spinning blue loading icon on the black loading screen.

This is then followed by a crash to desktop with a message which goes something like "A fatal error has occurred, FSX will restart, searching for solution".

    Did you install any add-ons?

Yeah could be due to non-supported add-ons ? Or some files could be missing, try reinstalling?

But now to your question. I've had exactly the same problem with exactly the same laptop with exactly the same videocard. This is where the problem is. Probably your drivers are old, Because Dell doesn't update them and ATI tells you to get the drivers from the manufacturer.

When I had the problem I used this:

    http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool.php

What this does is modify the desktop drivers (download the newest DESKTOP drivers from the ati-site and modify them) there is a instruction manual half way the page. Be sure to follow the all the steps, or you will get trouble (like I had....... :err: )

    Good luck!

    I don't have any add-on's, aside from SP1 and 2 that I downloaded.

Airholland, I'll try your suggestion and see if it works, thanks.
