Its only when using splitscreen. My 360 copy does the same thing.

Use a silenced weapon so you don't show up on radar. Sprint to the ladder in the center, climb all the way up, and drop a Tactical Insertion before you do anything else. Then, go crazy. Pick off everyone down below while they're busy distracting each other. If you get killed, you'll spawn back up there thanks to the Tactical Insertion. Just remember to plant another one when you respawn.
You should get some wicked killstreaks that way, too. I've gotten a Stealth Bomber carpet bomb and an AC-130 doing exactly that.
-
I just started using the Intervention rifle to get the XP bonuses from the challenges using it. Only problem is, I also equipped the Spas Shottie to do the same, and hve already hit 75 kills with the shotty compared to 12 with the rifle. Grrrrr. AND I hate sniper silencers. Completely and utterly hate them. Only reason I use then is to get the heartbeat sensors.

Haha, silenced 50 Cal...
We'll see if CoD7 will have silenced rocket launchers
-
I luuurve the silenced M21 EBR. That + Dual 1887's is teh pwnage.
By the way, have they fixed the semtex/javelin glitch? I haven't played for a couple of days, and it was awesome. Multikills in a crowded room (y). -
AmazingGracePlayer Notebook Deity
What's the semtex/javelin glitch?
-
usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
Do you guys actually find the heartbeat sensor useful? It seems like I spend more time tunnel visioning on the display rather than keeping an eye on my surroundings. Coupled with the insanely slow refresh rate and blurry syndrome when you pan around it seems utterly useless to me.
-
Supposedly a patch is coming out soon for the consoles and already has for the PC. Also, IW and Microsoft do plan on banning people from Xbox Live who have been abusing the glitch.
Equip a Javelin missile launcher and Semtex grenade. Switch to your Javelin, and start cooking a Semtex. Before throwing it, though, switch back to the Javelin. Whenever you die, a Javelin rocket will explode where you died, and it has a 20 foot blast radius. It's nothing less than cheating, and I can't wait until they start banning for it.
I don't like it. Its field of view seems narrower than in campaign, and it also doesn't refresh as often. If I see a red dot at the edge of the field at one ping, whoever it is has a chance to sprint to me and stab me before the next ping. -
stevenxowens792 Notebook Virtuoso
I ran into an idiot doing the Javelin cheat last night... I popped him as often as I could on the skyscraper. It was nice to see he didn't have highest score or most kills at the end of the match. I can understand when folks are having a crap game that they want to switch to the noob tube to at least get to .500 However, cheating to win however is not cool at all. Hope to see MS or IW fix this soon. StevenX

Just got MW2 for PC, anyone want to play? My Steam ID is AGP423, post yours here or feel free to add me!
-
Silenced .50 cal is 100% possible.
-
sure it can be done, the problem is that it's not really "silent"... your location would still be easily detectable. Decreased bullet velocity would also mean you'd have to be at a closer range, which makes a silenced .50cal pretty pointless IMO.....IMO!!
-
my fav map...unfortunately if you play with more people than 10..all fun is going down...i prefered mp5 until i started play with more people than 10...too much "stupid zombies" who shoot all time
anynoe play in MW2??what is your fav weapon....i just discovered silenced mini-uzi and it seems that it's the best weapon in game ihmo-similar to ak47u

of course 1 thing you will really know is knoow the map well. I didnt play for 4 months straight and i still played pretty good although i know at that time that my aim is off and my reaction time is late by few milliseconds. -

I should really learn my maps. I played MW2 for an hour or so yesterday, and most of my deaths were from enemy killing me from behind, or from enemies killing me from I-don't-know-where. I've won most face to face combat, and I give credit to Masterchef for the insta-prone advice! It's very helpful, saved my life a bunch of times.
-
Jump + midair prone for most devastation.
It's often referred to as dolphin diving, and is one of those things people get mad about, like bunny hopping. But you know what I say? If it works, it works. -
Using a good gaming mouse ,tweaking to find the right DPI settings for you.
Trying different keys for your diff. actions, until you find the sweet spot.
Knowing the maps always help.
Get to play on servers that run anti bunnyhop, so those annoying jumpers are crippled!!!!!!! -
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
in modern warfare 2 you get basically one jump, then you are done.
dolphin diving seems legit and is probably about as effective as going insta-prone. -
Having a good shotgun in the proper map also makes a huge difference, most people don't use it, I do...and own em
-
AmazingGracePlayer Notebook Deity
Never have I ever used a shotgun haha -
mobius1aic Notebook Deity NBR Reviewer
I have no load outs with it, but when in a pinch in MP, I will pick one up off a dead player if I'm out of ammo, which does happen sometimes. -
In MW2, if you're using an assault rifle, don't be afraid of using the grenade launcher. Yes, the noob tube itself. Yes, people will get mad and call you a noob, but 20 kills with it will unlock the shotgun attachment, which is pretty neat, and allows you to free up your secondary weapon slot for something like a rocket launcher. Right now I'm using an M16A4 Bling'd with the red dot sight and shotgun attachment, with a Stinger missile as secondary.
-
Good call, I do this a lot with the SCAR and the FAL, very effective because, as you said you can have the secondary as a stinger or javelin for taking out uav and choppers and stuff.
-
AmazingGracePlayer Notebook Deity
I never find the opportunity to use a secondary weapon unless it's something used to take out choppers or planes. Currently I'm using three set ups:
Main weapons are SCAR-H + RDS, SCAR-H + Silencer, and SCAR-H + Grenade Launcher
All the other stuff are the same: Sleight of Hand Pro, Hardline Pro, Scrambler, Semtex, Flash, and Painkiller.
Critiques/comments? -
change to stopping power and I guarentee you will get a lot more kills, that one less bullet is the kicker, especially with the scar since it's clip is only 20.
-
It's pretty funny since using stopping power with anything but semis and bolt actions in cod4 was useless, now it helps a lot.
But no shotgun love??? What about akimbo 1887s? Or if you're not high enough, spas 12? They rock
-
sorry but 1887s is a noob weapon and will conntinue to be until its range is nerfed, its worse than noob tube by far.
edit: patch was released yesterday apparently, havent actually seen any akimbos since lol -
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
yeah. i unlocked the akimbo 1887's about a week ago and enjoyed the experience of owning with them while it lasted. at the same time, i recognized that they needed nerfing.
then yesterday i went to show them off to my friends... steam updates mw2... fail.
the akimbo 1887's are kind of the same, except there is an invisible wall that the bullets no longer pass, and it is a very, very short wall. 1887's have been removed from my classes.
right now i'm tinkering with speed/stealth/power setups around the m21ebr with various attachments, and magnum + tactical knife as secondary.
i just recently realized that for my speed knife class, i really should be using a sniper rifle as primary weapon so that 1) i can be slightly more versatile 2) the sniper rifle has the same weight cost (speed cost) as the smg anyway 3) if you do the ghillie in the mist challenge, you can use speed knife with the ghillie suit.
@amazinggraceplayer: i would also recommend switching to stopping power. the other 2nd tier perks are all really for advanced specialized play. stopping power pro gives you more of an edge in general than the other perks, so use it. -
Yeah, Stopping Power is great with the SCAR-H (and assault rifles in general), especially when you get the Pro version, which gives you massive damage against vehicles.
-
do not encourage Drop-shooting/dolphin dive is annoying like x3 frags.
im beggining to get the hands of the game.
im using a shootgun now for training not to run alot and geting clear shots stealthly.
in combination with
x3 stunt nade
sleight of hand
martyr drop -
i pretty much strictly play htdm... and to be honest i use a stealth class and never run... i will sprint from one wall to another and i never use the center of the map... on spawn i will run for a chokepoint and drop em like flies...
my load out is
scar-h with silencer and heartbeat sensor
m93 raffica red dot sight and silencer
bling pro
cold blooded pro
ninja pro
claymore
stuns
final stand
i love the heartbeat sensor... i walk everywhere crouched... i love folks that don't use ninja... especially campers... easy kills...
and the raffica owns... that thing is nasty...
can't speak for tdm much... i love htdm where bullets mean business and it doesn't take an entire mag to drop someone jumping around like a moron...
also... always keep your back to a wall... strafe everywhere for a wider field of view... pay attention to the terrain... if anything looks slightly out of place in the distance its probably someone... if you aren't silenced zero in on them and unless they are using cold blooded pro a red name will show over their head and fire away...
if i play an objective based match i just run and gun with whatever cause im usually just killing time till my buddies get home so we can play htdm lol...
if you play domination look for that ever elusive quadruple kill with a semtex...lol... run for B and wait till the other team is posted up there... stick one of them then watch atleast three if not 4 go boom...
semtex are also a great offense against a riot shield.... those things are fun... -
If it takes you an entire mag of anything to drop someone in Core, you're doing it wrong.
-
AmazingGracePlayer Notebook Deity
I had stopping power before as my first perk, but since it's so hard for me to get a 4+ kill streak, I swapped it for Hardline Pro. And I say 4+ killstreak because UAV does not help as much as an airdrop of Pave Low or Chopper.
Another question: how long do you appear as a red dot on opponent's radar/map after you fire a bullet? I ask because sometimes my silenced SCAR runs out of ammo, so I'm forced to pick up a dead player's weapon, but I never know if/when/for how long the opponent can see me on their radar after I fire. -
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
Just look at the enemy radar blips when they fire. It isn't very long. In fact, it's short enough that even for stealth builds I would recommend not using a silencer (on most maps) forthe added power. The person you take out knows where you are anyway, so I say go for the full assault rifle and haul it to a new spot once you make a kill. If you get in close enough, you can always stealth kill with the knife.
-
AmazingGracePlayer Notebook Deity
So assault rifle (with what attachment?), Cold-Blooded Pro, Ninja Pro, and what other perk? Also, how useful is Commando?
-
commando is amazing. That extra few feet of knife distance has saved me a bunch of times
-
AmazingGracePlayer Notebook Deity
Does SCAR + FMJ = SCAR + Stopping power? And does SCAR + FMJ + Stopping Power take one less bullet to kill than without FMJ?
-
FMJ doesn't do all that much for damage. It's more for getting through cover
-
AmazingGracePlayer Notebook Deity
I've just unlocked everything for the SCAR except extended mags... Those 40 bullet penetration kills will be a pain in the neck. Good thing shooting through glass counts. -
Oh yeah, it's really bad for the sniper rifles. I got the FMJ on my Intervention on day one, and to this day I have only 6 penetration kills with it. They really ought to reduce that requirement for sniper rifles, since it's so rare to kill anyone through anything with one.
-
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
do you really need extended mags on your intervention?
-
no i mean in regular team deatmatch... not htdm... i love htdm where it takes one well placed shot -
AmazingGracePlayer Notebook Deity
With Scavenger, do you get ammo every time you kill an enemy or everything you walk over a dead enemy that you/your teammate killed?
-
stevenxowens792 Notebook Virtuoso
Everytime you walk over an enemy you pick up a refill of ammo. Which means you may be exposed a bit if you kill them in the open and need the ammo. Best Wishes, StevenX
-
Not at all...I just want the 5,000 bonus XP for unlocking all 6 attachments.
That's what I said. Core = "regular". Hardcore = hardcore.
Yep, any dead enemy provides ammo, regardless of who killed them.
I just unlocked Scavenger Pro last night...refills from enemies and now with extra mags from the start!
-
I've been doing terrible at mw2 since i opened it 2 days ago. (after the first day playing my KDR was .6, though I've now raised it to .98)
Does anyone else like the maps for cod4 alot more? It feels like mw2's maps cater to campers so much. -
HACKS AND AIMBOTS! No I am kidding I cant play the game online.
-
For the most part, I feel the opposite...most of the maps are smaller and more action-oriented, and camping isn't always the best strategy. There are a few exceptions, though...like Wasteland...damn, all I really use on that map is silenced WA2000 with thermal.
-
AmazingGracePlayer Notebook Deity
I feel like the map is small enough that everywhere I walk I can get sniped, but it's also big enough that I can't find enemies within half a minute of running. The first time I played that map I had 3 kills and over 20 deaths. After that I decided that I refuse to play that map ever again.
On another topic: what secondary weapon do you find most useful? I ask because I'm about to unlock Bling Pro, and I have not used a shotgun or pistol to kill anyone.
For all you CoD players, what's your secret?
