So... i have a few old games (Total Annihlation among others) and a few newish games that do not display in my resolution.
Some games its editing a text file, others its a registry file and some there is no way i can find...

Is there any way that will work for all of them? (like is there a way to get windows to force a specific resolution?)

Another common way to force the resolution is to right click on the launch icon, click proprieties, under the target box scroll all the way over to the last part of the text hit space bar and input this +szx 1280 +szy 1024 1280x1024 being the resolution that you can change. Click apply and then click ok and launch the game from the icon.

Out of curiosity are you doing this to set custom resolutions that the game won't support normally? It might be easier to help you with specific games instead of being so general.

Did you consider the possibility that they might be so old that they don't physically support higher resolutions? I know my old final fantasy games actually require mods to support higher resolutions.
