Just bought this but got to the install page and its 25GB :O
-
-
i put it on the steam deals thread, but 25gb??????? insane
-
I know how the hell did they get it to that size i mean i had to delete 2 or 3 games to fit the fatty on >_<
-
Read the game was kinda boring when it was released on Wii so didn't bother installing.
-
Is it ultimate sith edition?
Then let me tell you its an awesome game.
-
Hmm ive wanted to play it for so long but other titles got in the way lmao seems good though
-
I don't know, the reviews say it's an atrocious port making it a farce... Gamespot pretty much says this game is a show of disrespect to the PC platform. Which is ironic since Star Wars is not just about how awesome the good vs evil story is, but revolutionizing the use of PCs for CGI.
IGN: Finally out on PC, but nothing changed. No fixes, bad physics, what was broken is still broken. The year delay for PC meant nothing, it's the same game with all the broken physics and problems...
PC World: How's the actual game then?
In two words, "not bad."
In ten, "initially dull, eventually much better, and cumulatively, a trifle disappointing."
So tying it all together. A horrible port that is a disrespectful to the PC platform, to further the disrespect, the game was released on PC a year later with all the annoyances, bugs and broken physics, nothing fixed and the story and gameplay dissapointing.
Wow, from those 3 reviews, this is a must play. Pass. -
Aye the port was bad, only get it if your confident your machine will handle it quite fluently, but personally i really enjoyed it, added some extra sides to the whole star wars universe, and in general is quite a nice game to flick onto after spending alot of time doing other things,
-
Think a P8700 and a GTX260m can handle it?

I liked the wii version though the wii version is different from the other 3.

I love this game, you can have a lot of fun using your force powers but it is poorly optimised. I get about 35 fps maxed out on my laptop with that one at native resolution. Sometimes the frame rates are around 45+ though.
-
Wow, they couldn't show enough respect to PC gamers to get a game that runs on **'ing Wii to run on PC with a GTX 285M?
-
-
game is eventually boring, you'll just keep on doing the same stuff over and over again...
and what the hell do you mean by the wii is far superior ??!! nothing beats a pc or a laptop, yes, even a laptop is better than consoles !!!! -
"I think graphically the Wii is far superior. You'd be better comparing the 360/PS3 versions."
yea to the x3100.....maybe -
-
It's a great game, definitely worth it for that price. Played amazing on my Sager NP9850, never dropped below 30 FPS, 60 in cut scenes. Worth it if you have a PhysX capable system as well. To watch a door bend and warp as you beat a Stormtrooper against it is pretty cool. XD Played through it 4 times, almost back to back. Will load it up again once I am able to play games again. XD Here's some pics.

Sorry has to be a tinyurl to my photoucket account, else the forum language filter blocks it. XD
Oh yes, I played the Wii version first, wasn't bad, ugly as sin though. Lot of flailing around in that game. Hated it on FAILBox, but I hate everything on FAILBox. lol -
Force Unleashed only interests me on the wii. the saber-wielding and the gesturing-Force Powers did it for me. I was actually tired and sweating after the final battles of the game (no spoilers). And very satisfied.
Actually Force Unleashed is a better Star Wars opus than the whole "New Trilogy" (ptui), but that´s another thread.
I´ll wait for wii sequences, preferably using the Wii motion plus. -
-
Anyone know if this game supports controllers? Specifically Xbox 360?
-
Played it on the 360 with my 7-year old son...
He loved the force powers (probably slightly disturbing how he would force lift stormtroopers into the Death Star's primary weapon firing path and watch them incinerate...I couldn't figure out what he was doing at first...the thought never even crossed my non-homicidal mind)...
I thought the story was cool...and gameplay was a sloppy mimic of God of War/Resident Evil 4 (not sure which of those came first)...but even a sloppy mimic of either of those games is a decent game in my book...
I read the same thing about the game being a horrible port to the PC due to performance issues...but a patch has been released (and typically, reviews only deal with the initial release not the patched versions), and for $15, you can't really go wrong...I'm willing to take the risk...
The 25GB install size is shocking...particularly since I'll have to attempt running it on my limited m11x HDD...(not even going to try the 7950 GTX on the m1710)...
I may be disappointed if framerates are too low or the control scheme is severely hampered on the PC...but only $15 disappointed... -
Wahoo finished installing time to play bloody fat file >_<
-
-
My only question: Is it worth getting a pair of Nvidia cards for the PhysX, or do the dual 4870s in the M17X simply provide a better experience from their framerate without PhysX? -
-
Check out the Steam forums section on this game. Many people are complaining about awful controls, lack of graphics options, and an unchangeable capped frame rate.
-
Gah letem complain,
Controls are fine, graphics options are fine (For good machines) and capped frame rate? who cares lol.
Dam lousy porters -
This game had one patch released to address some of those issues. I wonder if Steam also has the patch applied.
-
Haha, anyone remember how they said this game was technically impossible port over to PC?
-
There's no blood in 1943, we always play together, and then have discussions about the differences between video games and real life...(eg, headshot doesn't get you five points in real life...it usually gets you life without parole or worse, and it hurts people's feelings...of course, getting headshot in the game hurts your feelings, too...it's so tough being a parent these days...)
I'm done de-railing the thread...
-
No dinner and a movie for me this week...
I didn't mind the keyboard control scheme...and the Steam forum users are correct...there is a capped framerate (30fps) and limited graphics options (resolution and a tick box for 'High Detail')...neither one of those 'issues' bother me...
The capped framerate doesn't bother me because, on my m11x, I'm no where near the 30 fps limit...I would guess at 1280x720 and 'High Detail' unchecked that I was getting 15-20 fps...
The framerates are 'smooth' but it's like playing in slow motion...just not enjoyable for me after having played on the 360...
I may suffer through the Hoth mission just to see what it was like and my son thinks it's cool to play Force Unleashed on the laptop (not bothered by the framerate)...other than that, it will just be a 'Not Installed' game on Steam until I buy an m11x R10 or an m17x...
In the end, I was wrong and others were right...BUT someday, I will own a laptop that can run it...of course, Force Unleashed will probably be 99 cents on gog.com when that happens...oh well...(I would definitely be upset if I had spent $50 on the PC version)...
EDIT: I've played around with the game some more...I'm thinking, and the Steam forums seem to agree, that I may be CPU bound...maybe I'll just have to wait for the m11x R2... -
ORRRRRRRR you could go INSANE and buy a cheap desktop capable of running all your games
-
Dudessss...this game is awesome. Bought it as soon as it came out on PC and despite a few technical issues this is BY FAR the best Star Wars/Jedi game out...even though I love the Jedi Knight series Force Unleashed really gives you that "Im a powerful mofo" feel.
Easily worth $15 and pretty lengthy too...plus the physics systems in place are top notch! Wish they had a play room where you could just mess around with all the physics!
Like I said though, it is pretty poorly optimized...on my desktop (Intel Xeon quad core, 2 x 4890's) it ran at like 30 FPS avg...I know the patch fixed this though Im just saying. -

lol 2x 4890's 30fps avg... sarcasm I hope.

Purchased the game last night. Downloaded until this morning. Got home, patched and ran it. Benchmark with fraps. Utilized nvidia advanced settings (my own vs let application decide). Strange that it ran better, smoother and faster with physx enabled. With high details in game at 1280x720 I get between 25-30fps solid. Smooth and the game looks and plays great. SSD really helps keep the levels going. Dont judge the game by the vader/wookie intro. keep playing and it plays just fine. Not bad for 15 smackerooos..
Best wishes, StevenX -
and the kicker is: you can't change it. -
Well I got this game and finally got the chance to play it (I already beat it on Xbox 360, but I rented it), and man what an experience.
First, the game size is ridiculous. It took me, no joke, like an hour or so to just INSTALL the game. Then I proceeded to patch it to v1.1, and again no joke, that took another hour or so to patch.
And the funny thing is, I was at 40GB's free on my HD when I installed the game, and near 10GB's after I was done. I proceeded to patch the game and it was near 2GB's with 50% done on the patch, so (this was fun by the way) I had to uninstall a game (I chose Dirt 2) while the game was being patched, just so I wouldn't run out of HD space.
I got the space back the patch was using, but jeez, warn a guy first.
Then I finally got to play it....and proceeded to lag like crazy, even with High Detail turned off. I get better FPS playing GTA IV with medium specs than this game.
Waste of $15 down the toilet. Guess I will see if I can't pick it up on the 360, because this game was very fun.

Tank, ignore the vader with wookie scenes.. Just get through it and then play any of the other missions. I believe the vader scene is slow on purpose. It does take loads of space but like I said above I am on the 3rd level with the main mission (with vader's apprentice) and it jams. Graphics are pretty good. The game does limit fps at 30. NO matter what you do. I dont see how, especially if you disable it in advanced settings.
Best Wishes, StevenX -
The Hoth mission ran just fine on the m11x...some occasional slow framerates when loading new textures at the beginning of a level (which you probably don't even see with your SSD), but other than that, it played just as smoothly as the 360 at 1280x720 with high detail...
And the mouse/keyboard control scheme isn't that bad...the developer actually put some thought into the keyboard configuration...
I can go to dinner and a movie now...excellent purchase for $15... -
I think I will cut my loses and buy it for the 360. It's only about $10 used.
Force Unleashed $14.99 On steam :)
