Are either of the games in my title enjoyable with mouse / keyboard?

Arkham Asylum is, although I ended up using my 360 controller to play it - I liked that more than using the keyboard/mouse.

AA is Awesome!! But I definitely enjoy it more with the 360 controller.

Both are pretty good, but if you fancy using a 360 controller on certain games like myself, then both of those games would be nice using one.

    Arkham Asylum much more so.

Whats funny is that both games you have listed I am currently playing for the first time. They both play well with a keyboard and mouse. Aiming is great with the mouse in AA and force unleash it is kind of hard to force throw your object in the direction you want, but thats just the game fault...

Both titles work perfect with keyboard + mouse but wouldn't recommend SW Force Unleashed in terms of it being a poor port even after the latest patch. It is capped at 30 fps no matter what hardware you have and the only 2 video options are resolution and high/low textures. Most games run fine at 30 fps but not this one, at least for me. Just the gameplay seems choppy and not fluent.

Thanks a ton. I think I'll buy AA after having played the demo, and I'll get Force Unleashed for ps3 or 360. Coincidently, I have a very nice Samsung 52 inch LCD with a PS3, 360, and a Wii. Why am I buying AA on a computer? Because the computer I got on Monday fricken ROCKS!

You can hook your laptop up to your TV. Then you'll get to play games at full 1080p resolution and not be restricted to 30FPS refresh rates and even have options like AA & AF and games with mods. Get a wireless controller and you can play your games couch potato style. You have a nice laptop, time to ditch the consoles.

Strange, works just fine for me, even to record.

Played both, loved both, both are excellent with mouse/keyboard. Only problem is that Force Unleashed is horribly optimized and it doesn't even have graphics options (don't know if they patched this yet), however I was able to play it smoothly enough with a mobility HD 3650, so that wasn't a problem other than the occasional fps drops. Other than that, enjoy.

Darkness62, the PC version is intentionally capped at 30 frames per second, so no matter what hardware you have, it still runs a little choppy with occasional frame drops. You can easily see the cap with some onscreen FPS reporting program (I guess you already use fraps).
30 fps is the bare minimum for a game to be playable but it depends on the game itself as well. Run Mafia II demo for example at about 30 fps to see that it is barely playable. Every game benchmark will show you that 30 fps is insufficent and will advise to use lower resolution and details to achieve playable fps.
For me this is a poor port compared to so many other enjoyable/quality games on the market and I wouldn't recommend it.

Really? Sager NP9850, never went above 30 except for cut scenes at 60, never went below 30 either, and I never encountered any "choppiness" as you can see in the video even recording it stayed at 30 FRAPs usually cuts FPS in half or more). In fact never played a game that was consistent 30 through the entire game. When did you test the game on "all hardware" must have been very time consuming? As well as hard on the wallet. I would be interested in seeing your data on how different games run on all hardware combinations. You must know which is the best to buy then as well?

Mafia II is fine at 30, I get between 35 and 45 on the demo with tweaked APEX. The consoles are at 24 (both of them). For you it may be a poor port, guess you know though seeing as you test on "all hardware".

Here is the test on PS3 and XBox, don't know why they didn't include game play. The 2K forum has more info on the FPS of the consoles.

Yes, really. It's just enough to google it. Unless you have some top secret edition for people on the Dark side only:

    Google

As far as I see on the Mafia II console comparison you posted above they are comparing some cutscenes, not actual gameplay. In cutscenes / videos it doesn't matter even if the frame rate is ~25 as in some movies. But it is another thing when you play and you can't aim because of some 30 fps. Or the makers of the game don't know that 30 fps is very good and that's why the benchmark gives rank D and suggest changing of the graphics settings for optimal gameplay.

You sound like Bill Gates with "640K should be enough for everybody".

What does a 30 FPS cap have to do with Choppiness? Glad you are able to use google though, nice change most people can't or won't.

Force Unleashed runs fine on my m11x (nVidia 335 GT)...

The first mission with Darth Vader is sloooow (I wouldn't say 'choppy'...more like slow motion), but the rest of the game plays as well on the m11x as it does on the 360...

I thought Force Unleashed was great gaming-on-the-go fun on the m11x...and I purchased it very cheap from Steam...

There's a difference between not being able to aim and optimal gameplay. Some of those built in benchmarks are not very accurate. If I remember correctly, the RE5 one wouldn't give you an A if you got anything below 60 fps. And I played at game with lower fps for sure. Guess what? Perfectly playable.

I tried a while back to play Force Unleashed, but the game was so laggy it was completely unplayable.

But if I remember right, it was without the latest patch (the game was just ported to the PC at the time), so I might have to try it again.

I just need to wait until I get another HD, because that darn game is pretty big.

Gameplay is the same, screen tearing and sudden FPS drops occur on both the PS3 and 360. That last sentence appears to be in another language so I will let that go.

Now we are on about Bill Gates? You are kind of all over the place. Sure 30 FPS is OK and 60 + would be great, but if getting 60 + in games is the only way you can play them, you had best get out of notebook gaming as quick as possible. You are in for a world of disappointment.
