So after having bought this in a steam sale ages ago, I finally freed up the 25GB (!) on my HDD necessary to install it.

I gotta say, I'm kinda impressed. The performance isn't anywhere near as bad as it used to be prepatch (or so I'd heard) as I'm getting a near constant 25-30 FPS at 1080 with high details turned on. This game can look pretty stunning at times. Load times are AWFUL though, even with an i7.

However, as my performance isn't constant, I decided to turn off High detail settings and this made me never drop below 30FPS - the thing is, I'm pretty sure the game looks a bit worse now but can't tell how.

Does anyone know what High detail controls? I.e. does it add more AA or HDR instead of bloom? I genuinely have no clue - all I know is that the image looks slightly more washed out and the lighting seems to have taken a hit.

If I remember right, high detail forces the use of high resolution textures (partially explaining the insane storage requirement). It also may influence such things as AA, though I am not sure Aspyr did anything that major if they were lazy enough to leave in a lot of the coding for the console versions (the other primary reason for the insane storage).

    Cheers.

i think the FPS is fixed at 30 so u won't go any higher...also its not a processor problem but a hard drive one as u need to load a lot of stuff to play the game. I don't know but it seems that u can't control extra details or something
