    Hi guys

I've got a few games that I want to force the DX mode on, namely Race 07.

Reason being is that my lowly 2.2ghz AMD Turion, 3GB RAM, nVidia GeForce GO 6100 shod notebook, which is being replaced soon with a Vostro - 2.4ghz, 3GB RAM, nVidia GeForce 8600M GT 256MB, has a shockingly slow fps even with settings turned right down (could be the broken monitor hinges doing it but I doubt it :D), and I'm fairly sure that would improve drastically if I could run the games in question in DX7 or DX8.

So is there anyway of forcing games to use a particular Direct X Level say 7 or 8 instead of defaulting to 9?

Thanks in advance for any advice :)

You cannot do it for every game. You can only do it for those that directly support DX7 or DX8, and even then each game has its own way to force it.

Well ok. Does anyone know if you can do it with Race 07 offline version then?

With GTR 2 you can set it in the config options to use DX 7, 8 or 9 and I read something about setting the shortcut for Race 07 to have -dxlevel70 in, or something like that, does that work or am I just stuck with it running slowly in DX9 until I get my Vostro?

If it doesn't have an option for a certain codepath built into the game, you can try to force it with 3D Analyze. But be warned it can cause massive corruption if you don't know what you're doing.
It's XP only of course, no Vista.
