HI
I was just wondering if i canforce a particular resolution in a game that doesn't support it. For example, the only widescreen resolutions that the witcher supports are 1024x640 and 1280x800, both being too much for my 64bit x1700. it would be nice if i could run it at 848x480.

I'm interested to know too... Anyone?

But going down the resolution would produce blurry picture (in a LCD, but if you have a tube, i guess it doesn't matter)
1 way is to edit the registry (but it's a tough process, not recommended)
another way is wide screen gaming http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page
If you could force it wide, i guess you could force it small as well.. never tried this b4, so i wouldnt know. -
i looked at the link you provided(thx!), but i couldn't find anything of use. i searched for the witcher, but all i found was it saying that ws support is native.

The widescreen resolution you're looking for is not actually supported by the game, but then again the card you're using to run the game is extremely weak and the 1024 widescreen option happens to be the lowest supported widescreen option for that game.

Usually a games resolution is dictated by the what the video card driver and hardware support, but there's also limits in the game itself.
There is a utility called 'powerstrip' that will force any resolution on your desktop. Not sure if it will help with gaming at all though. -
Currently i'm running the game at 1024x640. I'm currently in the vizima outskirts level. Everything is set to low except lighting(medium), and it looks great. The fps is also holding up(30-40). Looks like that 2nd gig of ram does wondersIt actually compensates for the 64bit bus of the video card

My vidcard is ATI, not nvidia

The method is the same. All you do is alter the driver INF file.
edit: The actual parameter inside the INF may be different, but it's fundamentally the same. -
