I just played a quick round. Premise is similar, but otherwise not even close to the same.

I'm not sure how they're gonna sue when:

    1) The free Fortnite PvP mode is not monetizing anything.
    2) The two games are developed on the same engine with one being owned by said company.
    3) The style of the game is different in how it approaches situations.

On my first try I ended up in #2 place. It's everything I expected so far, a more polished yet different take on PUBG. I am currently done with BR games though, I need a break.

THIS. Plus their netcode feels more polished and consistent. Which is one of the main things i hate about PUBg.
Also Fortnite feels more fun in a way that it has a few extra elements to it, along with less "real world" limitation what and how much you can carry around.
The most hilarious part is how much they are trying to push PUBg as an esports title. I mean come the heck on, a game that is so heavily reliant on RNG, esport? wth?

Well RNG and it's a SURVIVAL game where you can wait out most of the game doing nothing. Not much of an esport, or much for spectators at least.
