Free Half-Life 2 and Half-Life 2: Episode 1 (One Copy of Each Avail)

Ok, these things have been sitting in my Steam account FOREVER! I figure I need to get rid of them. I don't want to make this a trigger happy event to first come first serve, but please, to win these, just post here why you haven't played Half-Life 2 yet ( loser ) and why you deserve them.

You have until Sunday January 3, 2010 at 10pm to post. I will be offering both games to the same person. Only makes sense unless you convince me otherwise to split them up!

I know these are older games, but if anyone hasn't played them yet, here's your chance to play them. No reason now!

 

already own these, but HL2 is a GREAT game, one the best games I've ever played. If anyone has ever thought about wanting to play it, jump on this. Tons of mods use the HL2 (source) engine as well so those will all be available to you as well.

Too weak? I could play it on my Eee netbook! Granted with the -dxlevel 70 tag, but it still ran well. It plays well with GMA x4500 or better to be honest at DirectX 9, at lower resolution and reduced detail, but still.

 

I would love to get these. I haven't played either one yet because I don't really have the money to go out and get singleplayer games and only buy games that I can get a lot of time out of. For example, I've played CS:S for 618 hours, and CS1.6 for 235.

 

I agree that I could probably run it (X3100) but I don't want it to be like L4D was for me. Where I didn't enjoy the game because of the settings and fps.
I'll just wait a little bit till I get a dedicated GPU.

Captain Quazar was my best friend until one event that changed my whole life. But before I get into that story, I must first tell you the tragic tale that led up to this event.

The day started just like any other except the fact that I couldn’t find my lucky Bible Adventures game anywhere. After fifteen minutes of frantic searching, I just couldn’t find it and was starting to get worried fast. This game meant a lot to me since my brother gave it to me as a prank birthday present the day of his murder at the yearly Power Rangers convention in Las Vegas. After that dreadful night, every time I had Bible Adventures on me everything would go my way. Instead of getting super anal virginity removing wedgies by the school bullies, I would luckily avoid them at the last minute. The game was also with me the day I met my best friend…

I remember the day like it was yesterday. This was only about a week after my brother’s murder so I was still very sad with emotions. Luckily my mom knew the best thing that could cheer me up. I was awoken that day by a warm thick tongue wrapping itself over my broad forehead. After I opened up my eyes I finally saw that it was just the local prostitute, but then I realized what I was really in for. He was holding a cute little puppy in his hands. I asked him what the puppy was for, and he told me that it was mine. At first I was scared about having a new pet, but when I saw the cute little face staring back at me I just knew I would enjoy it. The only name for the puppy that came to me was Captain Quazar, my brother’s favorite video game character from the 3D0. The dog seemed to like it, so I staid with it.

It would be four long years before I realized just how much my previous good luck backed up the bad. Things like falling down clumsily and losing money everywhere were just small parts of all the bad luck happening to me. But it would not be until one night when my bad luck would finally bite me in my virgin anal buttocks. I was sitting on the couch eating some low fat popcorn watching some Spongebob when I suddenly felt some of the popcorn go down my throat the wrong way causing me to choke for air. While this was happening I heard my mother give off loud screams that there was a burglar in the house and he had a gun. Before I knew it, my mom was held captive with a gun to her head and after a few minute of toying with her the burglar turned to me and screamed, “Tell me where you keep your valuables or she will get it!” I was just barely able to breath because of the popcorn, but I still could not clearly talk. The burglar starting to scream more and more at me until before I could even blink my mom was dead on the ground with a bullet hole through her head. He then instantly ran up to me, grabbed me by the shirt and said that I would be next. But for some reason he just dropped me to the ground and started laughing. He turned his head to me and said, “I’ll be nice this once and let you walk away unharmed if you answer this one question.” “Tell me the full name of the character you always play in Half-Life 2” was the question he asked me. I never played this game before, so I had no clue what to even say. After a few second of silence, I summed up all my courage and said, “Tom Cruise?” He spit in my face and told me that that was the most worthless answer he has ever head, and that I will have to pay for it. He pushed me down to the ground and started kicking me. For some reason he just stopped, looked around, and a large smile played across his mouth. I then realized that he saw my dog in the corner. He went up to Captain Quazar and whispered something in his ear. Almost instantly, Captain Quazar leaped up and pounced on me. Scared for me life, I was begging him to get off of me and stop what he could be possibly trying to do. Nothing seemed to work, and before I knew it I experienced a pain far worse then getting your eyes peeled like a banana. He bit into my ding-dong and ripped it almost clean off. The burglar gave a very vulgar laugh and said “good boy”. Everything around me after that went blank, and the last thing I remember seeing was my “best friend” walking away with the burglar with his tail wagging freely in the air.

It would be two weeks until I would wake up from my pain-induced coma, just to sadly realize that none of my loved ones were even next to me. As an un-fertile orphan I spend my remaining days in the cold and gloomy orphanage writing my autobiography with just a snip it of that story being revealed to you today. I hope this teaches every boy who reads this that unless you want your ding-dong possibly taken one day; you better play some HALF-LIFE 2.

(Yes it is all originally written by me, and yes I’ve never played the game before and I do not want my ding-dong taken away from me)

OMG ZOMBEH!!!

Why didn't anyone tell me this? I've wasted all this time on Killing Floor and Left 4 dead(s) yet I could've got HL2? Are there any zombeh in Hl1 because I just bought it in the steam sale.

PS I need Hl2 because im a good influence on our zombie friends, I mean i've nearly got the l4d1 zombie genocidest achievement!

My eyes glazed over about half-way through. But I'll try to read through it. Better grammar and sentence and paragraph structure would help. I'm just not real keen on the whole local prostitute and ding dong thing..

 

I have TF2, HL2: Deathmatch, HL2: Lost Coast, CSS, but no HL2 and EP1. I just want a game that i will enjoy

 

I already own the games, and love them.

And- I have a friend who would very much enjoy them.

I would score some human relationship points by passing them on, so if you elect to send them to me, it would help me in a different (better?) way than simply enjoying the game myself.

I've played the first HL when it came out and i really loved it. By that time, I was just a kid so the only possible way of getting it was asking them to buy it for me.
I haven't played HL2 because now I have to buy things for myself Seriously: I live in Argentina and here this kind of things are extremely expensive when Santa Claus doesn't exist any more.
I bought my notebook in a trip I made to the US last year, but my budget was very tight and I couldn't afford many games.

So... I'd love it as a christmas present

 

i don't have these games... steam didn't work on the internet i had untill recently..... i vote for me getting it i'm a proud loser

 

Well this may not technically count, I did have the game one point. I bought the orange box for my xbox 360 last year, unfortunately my 360 and the game were stolen shortly after. Our apartment was broken into and some Ahole took my xbox, my psp, my roomates ds and my gun safe (luckily I had my gun with me when it was stolen, so all he got was ammo). All my games were taken and a company laptop was also stolen. God I would love to catch the guy who did that....

I started in on HL2 but didn't get far before it was taken. I just got an Asus G51 laptop for xmas and can finally play some games again. I would love to play HL2 the way it was meant to be played...on a PC.

 

Half Life 2 is like the only valve game i haven't played, i've played l4d, tf2, css, hl1 etc. Just never had a chance to get HL2. Now would be a good time to get it and would save me a few pounds if you give it to me, would reaaally appreciate it xD

 

This is going to be harder than I thought.

 

I played HL2 when it went out and really liked it. When Episode 1 went out, I was playing other games and I did not pay a lot of attention to it, I been always thinking "bah, I'll play it some day".

I re-played HL2 last month and realized I'm so curious to know what happens after the ending of it I considered buying Episode 1, but had a buzy Xmas and could not spend a lot of time gaming.

So I'm half-a-looser, since I did play HL2 first part, and that's why I deserve episode one, because I suck less than the other loosers

If you give episode 1 to me, I would be so gratefull.. It's been a while since I don't play a good FPS with a STRONG storyline such as HL2.

Yeah LOL. I figured most people got introduced to Steam by getting HL2 or The Orange Box.

I got steam back when I bought Counter-strike at retail like 2002/3. But besides that I never did do steam until The Orange Box, and by then I forgot all my information.. if only I still had my old account lol. 4 or 5 digit!

I got into steam with CS1.6.

 

I registered HL2 on my account on my old computer. Now, I have a new computer, and wanna test it out. I install it, put in the serial code, and... it's already been registered >_<

I'm just gonna pick up the orange box and css from BB (whenever it gets in stock ^_^)

 

if its on your account you shouldn't need to put the serial key in again

 

who ever you pick ill throw in a HL:2 deathmatch copy.

NO! Stop right there. You can recover your HL2 on your old steam account you registered. Games are tied to your steam client, not your computer. So if you have the Orange Box retail it probably already installed steam. From there it can be recovered by the cdkey IF you do not know your steam information from awhile back.

I remember trying to do this, but didn't have my cdkey from my original CS so I created a new one. Basically on the steam client, go to retrieve lost account, then i don't know my account name, then it gives you the option of using old email to retrieve or your game's cdkey. Enter the key and hopefully it will work. hopefully you still have that email active =)

Lol i played HL2. Sadly i have the orange box for 360, and NEVER played episode 1 or 2 for some reason. I also never played portal. I guess I just never got around to playing them on 360. Whats so weird is i had HL2 for the ORIGINAL Xbox, but when Orange Box came around i couldn't say no.

 

still have the games? I would love them! the only PC(my only used platform,no current consoles ) games I own are CS:S and garrys mod, and I would really appreciate these games because, I need to experience the legend that is HL2 and I could use the textures/models for GMod.

I haven't played HL2 yet (it hurts) because I plain can't afford it, I've always wanted to get it, i haven't even played HL1. I'm still stuck with a four year old PC with a 5200FX GPU, which plays CSS at about 30 fps LOW(my PC doesn't meet recommend specs for GMod), so I guess my first goal is to upgrade my PC, but getting HL2 as a gift would lighten my burden. Please.

The reason? Well, I already have Half Life 2 so you can give it to someone else, but I haven't played HL2: Episode 1 because I couldn't buy The Orange Box on Steam, I had problems with my debit card, I tried purchasing it about 4 times then I gave up. I'm just a poor 22 year old college student and I don't have a credit card to buy them.

I do have two guest passes for killing floor. It's basically a trial period of the full game, but will offer it in order that people posted until both are taken, except not to the winner of HL2 and/or EP1.

Well the reason why i never played Half Life was because I never had a computer that can handle it, My last computer couldn't even handle some flash games with out making the game play in slow motion.

 

Ok, this is awfully difficult, so this is how I'm going to do it. I am a big NHL fan, mainly Red Wings. But unfortunately there's no Detroit Red Wings game today, but there is Boston vs. Rangers today, and will use the third period of the game to determine who gets these HL2 games.

Since there are 16 entries, I will have to use some number magic to determine the winner. One random number from 0-15.

The winner will be decided by total of both teams shots on goal and player's number with the last goal. I will add the last digit of both teams shots on goal + the last digit of the player that makes the last goal. So in other words:

NY Rangers have 8 shots on goal +
Boston has 7 shots on goal =
15, take the 5 +
Sean Avery scores last goal,number 16 = 6 so
5 + 6 = 11


If total is 16, 17, or 18, I will subtract the last digit of seconds at time goal was scored (total of time >3 seconds)... I'm sure you dont care the details, but it makes the game interesting for me and I'll announce it when done...
