im looking for a good or great online game that is free to play as i dont like having to buy a game and then paying each month to play it such as WoW and i was wodnering what you people think is a good free MMORPG im looking at Guild Wars and games like that would also like to know what kind of Sci-fi games such as EVE Online that is also free to play online, the only reason i want free to play online is so i dont get obsessed with trying to get as much for my money as possible like i think some people do with WoW

    thanx

    runescape
this game is for teens, but there are a lot of children playing it. Once you get a higher level, the kids will kind of get filtered out, and you will be playing with teens and adults. I have played runescape for 3 years. This IS free, but there are free and members worlds. I HIGHLY recommend becoming a member. It's $5 a month.

Believe me.. whether if it is f2p or p2p, you ll get addicted when you start. But the good point about f2p is that it has a lot of bad stuff (like bad support, bad community) that'll drive you away from it. I would suggest go play any MMO that is in beta (you ll get more support and less RMTs).

Even if you only play 2 hours a week (and if you like the genre you will be putting in more time than that =) ), it works out to maybe $2 an hour, which isnt too bad. I play about 10 hours a week myself.

Having said that, I think Guild Wars is probably the way to go for free-to-play MMOs. I havent tried runescape, so I cant comment on that one.

Most of the pay-to-play MMOs have free trials, so you can make your own mind up as to whether or not you can justify the cash.

Ive tried a million f2p MMOs and most of the popular p2p MMOs, Guild Wars too.
They all suck. Id really love to get addicted to one of them and im always on the lookout for cool new MMOs(like Huxley), but i just cant get hooked.
The only time a MMO was rly fun was when i got all my friends to join me in Silkroad. The game itself sux, but it makes it so much more fun to try stupid things with friends, do a trade run with em( and get slaughtered) or just talk about something whilst farming.
The only game ive come to enjoy for a long period of time WITHOUT my friends is Project Reality. Its probably coz communicating via Voip is obligatory, so u sorta build up a relationship to ur squadmembers.

Isn't Guild Wars free. Apparently it's good. I'd give it a try.

I hear guild wars is worth playing. I'm not quite sure since I have never played.

Anarchy Online? It's been free for a couple of years, and while the graphics are dated (there's a huge graphical update coming soon for it though), the gameplay is solid (not the most innovative in the world, but still fun), and the community is probably the best I've seen in *any* game.
Maybe it's because of all the social venues (bars and clubs) and items (clothes, drinks and such) that were in the game from day one, but whatever the reason, the community rocks.

I recommend Perfect World its just like Wow but with a lot better graphic, content and much more fun. It is also free. Biggest and best free MMO ever created. The game have more features than any MMO out to date incuding the ones that cost.

"Great Game" and "Free" have yet to be put together in the MMO gaming world. Heck, some of the games you have to pay for are downright pathetic.

Give Sword of the New World a try. I play on Orpesia as I'm not much for PvP'ing at this point.

Try Saga. It's a strategy game where you build a castle and go fight other people with your troops.

I don't know much about these MMORPGs, but I played Runescape (and occasionally/rarely have logged on recently) back in Junior High (Senior in High School now) and it was cool then because everyone was playing it and I had a bunch of friends on. If you're playing without a bunch of people, it probably won't be as cool; the only reason I still get on occasionally is because a friend and I have kept playing every now and then and our characters are really close in skill.
