I've had this computer for less than a month, but it seems to be having issues. Source games and Super Street Fighter IV run fine, all the time. But anything more demanding, and it gets periodic framerate drops unrelated to what's going on. The framerate will just drop to sub-20 for a couple seconds, then go back up to 60 like nothing happened. It's done this in Assassin's Creed II, both Mass Effects, Modern Warfare 2, Mirror's Edge, and Saints Row 3. But no issues whatsoever in TF2, L4D, SSFIV, Trine, or Kingdoms of Amalur demo. Low settings, lower resolution, no difference.

I don't think it's dust, been here less than a month. It's on a hard surface, it has a cooling fan underneath, latest nvidia drivers. I really don't want to send it back, that would be quite a pain.

I don't see where that comes in. I was getting much lower framerate than 30 when I tested Human Revolution.

I turned off post-processing in ACII and it seemed alright. Only tried for about 15 minutes. I know part of Mass Effect 2 is because it turns on cinematic lights when I want them off and Mass Effect 1 just isn't that well-optimized, but I'm still not certain about everything yet.

GPU-z has the GPU at 70 C max.

Yeah idk what to say, check your aa and other effects. That can make the game flop.

your GPU is throttling, cutting core clock drastically to cool down, what is your temperatures?

    I checked temperature, it's 60-70 max in-game.

I'm trying plugging the cooler into the wall socket instead of the laptop's USB right now. Haven't played enough to be sure yet.
