Hello, i went to turn on my computer and the 3 lights on top of my W860CU turned on for half a second then the computer turned off, the power supply showed a blinking green light and i could hear a buzzing sound coming from it. I opened up my laptop and removed the GPU to find out that the computer turns on without a graphics card in it. Does this mean that the graphics card is fried or could it be something else? The card doesn't show any burn marks and there is no burning smell either.

    Thanks,

Did you try sprinkling any powdered sugar on it and, if you're feeling a lil sassy, some cool whip?

mmmm Beignets sound wonderful right now. As for the topic at hand, so you removed the card and it started fine? yea most likely your GPU is dead but you should have a warrantly on your computer so no biggy.

    Bahaha, love it.

But yeah, that is your GPU. Call your reseller, it is a new part, you should be under warranty.

Not sure if i can RMA, i cut the sides of the aluminum case so the heatsink sits on the die better so i did tamper with it, I bought a new one so if RJtech does give me a new one ill see if i can sell it

I did that and had the same issue as you. Sent mine back and they replaced with no questions asked.

Yeah RJ Tech most likely won't give me a new one because i clipped the sides, anyway i just remembered that you can put a 285m in this machine and i did, runs cooler, performance is about the same depending on what game i play. And i would have to ship my whole computer there and back, even if i do get a new one i will probably just sell it.

I had a Z71V where the video card died (6600 Go). The laptop wouldn't start up unless I removed the video card, I could tell it started up properly cause of the windows startup sound

Someone bought the broken laptop from me intending to "Bake" the video card in an effort to fix it. Have you looked into that? Maybe as a last resort

I heard baking the graphics card only works when the card starts to show artifacts, lines, etc. Maybe it's different for this GPU/Laptop. Did the guy that bought your laptop have any luck? I might try it if it worked for him.
