This looks pretty cool. It's like you are the god of that universe and you can make anything happen or effect what is going to happen.
Pre-purchase From Dust on Steam
-
Any idea, does this game use Ubisoft's constant online connection? Says it uses their "online service" as third party DRM... not sure what that means.
Looks like a cool game concept. -
They better not put that crap on this game.
-
Apparently, it will have Ubisoft's infamous "always-on" DRM. They had it, got rid of it, and are going back to this evil practice again!

Looks cool. Remind me of Black and White 2. Being a God and messing around

It was first reported to have the always on DRM along with Driver: SF, then PCGamer reported that Ubisoft said From Dust won't but will still have to use the Ubisoft Online Service. The game's interesting, but I'm still skipping it due to being a Ubisoft title.
-
I thought this looked really cool and I loved the old Black & White game, but if this has the 24/7 online DRM then I won't be buying this regardless of cost.

Most likely that stupid have to be online all the time crap. -
That DRM stupidity is begging to be mass-pirated.
-
I hear it's not really a very good game.
-
I wanted to get this game and hearing how awesome it is. But Ubisoft DRM is what making me not purchase it...
-
-
I just hate how today, people get turned off from games by such things like DRM which isn't even part of the actual game rather than the actual game itself.

I remember purchasing Assasins Creed 2 in a Steam sale recently and I stupidly thought they had removed the 24/7 online DRM by now. However, they only changed it from having to be online 24/7 to having to authorise ownership of the game on each launch. To me that was just as bad so I got a refund from Steam (gesture of goodwill since Steam gives no official refunds).
So in short, their DRM turned me of a game that was on sale for only £5. The only way they will get the message is from lack of sales. They can make a godly game but if it has that online DRM then they are burying themselves in dust and throwing legit customers into the volcano of mistrust and stamping on the foot that feeds the tribe. -
-
Looks like another PC game I won't be playing. -
What is the REAL deal?
I thought some Ubisoft guy firmly stated that DRM will not be on this game?
And now it's back to the DRM cult?
Was that the reason of the delay?

). I refuse constant online identifications for single player games.
On topic: the game looks promising. -

Add another non purchaser to the pile, the game looks interesting and it too reminds me of Black & White but I can't be bothered with big software companies and their strange attempts at anti piracy. It's not like hackers are going to go "good job Ubi, you've stumped us this time".
-
It's Ubisoft. It's an automatic no play for me.

I don't really know why companies get so greedy/foolish. If some want a pirated game, no DRM would stop them. The "piracy comunity" manages to break every single protection method, it is a waste of time!.
The only valid way of atacking this is good games + good prices (below 30$ please) + good MP with servers blocking pirated versions. So, a DRM/somethingcheckingonline method should come only when you want to play MP.
With digital markets like Steam, there's no excuse for piracy. You can get the game from the moment it came out and if you are patient, some months later you can get a great discount. I refuse to install pirated games/soft on my computer, game/soft/stuff developing is a job, and as such, you should pay for it. It's THE LAW. People doing/consuming piracy will not stop even at 1$ games. So, DRM or not, they will pirate your product. -
Supposedly, Ubisoft has claimed that you can play the single-player mode offline. That begs the question: Is there multiplayer mode?

I miss the days when anti-piracy measures were "what is the first letter of line 7 on page 92?"

We are talking of big monsters here: Ubisoft, EA... they are TOO big... they got SO MANY divisions... -
-
P.S.: Yes... I want Dust. Maybe on christmas sale -

They claim this DRM scheme has been a success... and also Sony claimed they did the best of the best to prevent the hack of PSN back in April. The point is that companies hardly will recognize some product or policy has been a failure.
I am saying this because so far we don't know if this so-called success in their DRM scheme has been reflected in an increase of sales of their games (because at the end, the company lives from selling products, not from stoping piracy). Going further, let's take AC 2: maybe they set the expected sales very low (and blame it to piracy), such that when the actual data came (boosted by a heavy discount up-front) it was so high that, and thus 'this DRM really works!' conclusion was reached.
I know I sound quite far-fetched in these assumptions, but given the size of these corporations it should not be very difficult to make such manipulations.
Just my 0.02 (quite stretched) cents -
Ugh people at E3 should just boo at them whenever mention the word DRM on any of their Presentations. Anyways, hate me if you want but I'll still be pickinig up this game as I really never not have internet connection so the DRM won't really affect me. :/ I just think the game looks so good after looking at some of the videos.

Coz of the annoying DRM, I will not be picking this up (until it's down to $5 heh).
-
For some reason, I'm expecting a pre order discount soon for this game.
-
It's about time someone revived this genre of game (I'm trying to forget about Black & White....). Populous was tons of fun and seemed to sell pretty well so I'm surprised it took so long for a clone to pop up.
Now all I need is a real successor to Dungeon Keeper and life will be grand. -
After seeing u guys say this game reminds u of Black & White, I checked it out and it looks AWESOME! :3 I liked the creature controlling stuff xD turning them evil, etc.
-
Mechanized Menace Lost in the MYST
I agree this game looks sick! I am probably going to get it.
-
Wow... just wow! I am itching to pre order this right now but the DRM and the performance I will get on my M11X might disappoint me.
-
Nope, runs fine on the M11x.
-
Apparently people have had so many problems with this game that they are petitioning for fixes while others are demanding refunds from Steam. Some have been unable to play due to errors concerning the DRM and not accessing online, others have had crashes and they say it is capped at 30 fps.
I guess we can thank all of those people who do not have the will power to resist a game even when it has such useless anti gamer DRM
By the way, the pirates are not suffering the online issues because their version works offline according to various sources online. In other words, that crappy DRM was cracked almost as soon as it was released.
I was going to buy this title but with that DRM, they could sell at $1 and I wouldn't even waste my time. Goodbye Dust.
-
Ubisoft LIED about the DRM in From Dust. They told everyone that the DRM would only require Internet connection to launch, but they LIED and included their infamous full time streaming connection DRM.
DON'T BUY!!! -
-
All the while the pirates are all laughing while playing without any DRM related issues.
