Just a few weeks ago I purchased an Alienware 18 with all the bells and whistles. I've been reading different forums out there saying laptops probably won't be able to Oculus. Thought i'd reach out to the people and pick some brains.
    Alienware 18 specifications:
    i7 4940 MX (Quad-core 8mb cache, overclockable to 4.4 GHz w/ turbo boost
    Dual GTX 980M with 8Gb GDDR5 each (16 Gb)
32 gigs of RAM Dual Channel DDR3L
512 SSD BOOT and 1Tb HDD

    Thank you

I don't know how VR works but if it takes advantage of SLI then yes, you should be able to.

I think it's sad, not your response. But paying out that much money and it's not set in stone I can run oculus

I've been wondering about this as well. I believe it all comes down to frame rate as I think the 980m's are technically compatible but you still have to hit a certain frame rate for it to work. I believe that's where the issues arise.

I saw they announced an x51 that's oculus ready, comes with a 980m. I also saw they said the 13 inch should be upgraded to OLED screen this year. I was hoping they would announce a killer version of the 18 but I guess if that is going to happen, it won't happen until the next flagship gtx cards are announced.

So I guess technically you should be able to run it but hitting the magical (recommended) 90fps in games is the problem. And if that is a problem for your beast, imagine what a problem it will be for an X51 running a single 980m. That is my understanding anyway

Thanks for the fix. That's a little better I guess but I just wonder how well any of the current cards will handle oculus and how long they will be able to. Will be interesting to see once we have some real world examples out there as well as how running the Vive will compare.
