This was going to be a day one purchase for me but after the Uplay announcement, I can no longer bring myself to make a purchase anymore. Enjoy the video.

Wait you're telling me you seriously thought that Watch_Dogs wasn't going to require Uplay? Have you not played a single Ubisoft game in the last few years?

Is it just me, or do the graphics in the video look awful, like last-gen console awful?

It's on PS4, but it looks similar to if not worse than GTA V on PS3/360.

I know but with Watch Dogs, I think I read that Ubi announced that it wouldn't be using Uplay this time so I was optimistic. Maybe the website that made that statement was wrong.

They need to learn that any DRM method used must be transparent and as non intrusive as possible. They might as well ship there titles with a hoop to jump through because the pirates get faster access and less bloat.

Whatever you read, they clearly got their facts wrong. Watch_Dogs is a first-party game, developed and published by Ubisoft. Requiring Uplay is a given, same way you would expect Valve games to require Steam, or Battlefield to require Origin.
