What would most likely be the successor to the NVidia 8600m GT in the next line of cards? (By that, I mean having the same MXM as this one in the 9XXX M series.)

What sort of performance improvement could we expect over the 8600m GT?

We are techs, not psychics. But probably the same gains that a 8600 has over a 7600.

If you want more specific, I hear Ms. Cleo knows.

Probably more than the 8600 had over the 7600 i'd say.

9700M GT, and it will offer performance simular to a 7950 GTX.

The 9900M will come in GTX and GT flavours and will perform better than 2 8800M's in SLI. Delivering a 3DMark (2006) of around 25,000.

And before we get carried away, remember that everything here is pure guesswork. There is zero information available on the 9 series of cards in the first place.

So everything in this thread is based on 1) past trends, and 2) hope.
    ;)
