    Hello all -

Looking for some advice. I'm an avid WoW player and a consultant, so I play on the road using my G1S-A1 (8600GT). I have used all varieties of drivers, and am currently running 174.31 for Vista 32-bit.

When I normally boot up my PC, and start up WoW (or any other game for that matter) I notice after about five minutes a strange sort of 'lag'. Basically, the FPS does not suffer, but the graphics produce frequent pauses. I guess you could call it stuttering. I've tried closing the program, reinitiating the client, opening, closing, etc...nothing stops it.

I've tried all of the 16x.xx series and 17x.xx series drivers. The version I'm using now gives me about 60FPS on average at 1650 by 1080, with 2x AA, so I'm quite happy with the FPS.

However...to get the stuttering to go away, I have hibernate the machine, and then restart.

After doing this, I have gaming bliss. High frame rates and zero stuttering.

So, my question for the knowledgable folks in this forum is...why...and is there anything I can do to avoid the hibernate step?

    Thanks!

Well it doesn't make the whole step go away, but if you just put your computer to sleep and then wake it up (no restart) then you should get the same results. I've been doing that for a while now and it works great! I have a G1s also.

Strange...any reason why we have to do this? Not that I mind terribly, its just an annoying extra step.

I actually found this fix in another thread. They said that it *might* have something to do with a BIOS change/error after you awake your computer from sleep, but that is just a guess, there is no for sure reason.

Here's the original thread. It should really be spread to everyone that is having stuttering issues with the 8600!

Look for Tyven's posts, he should get some credit for this find, it really works

Yep, you are right. Guess I'm not the only one that stumbled across this :) Interesting read to be sure.

So, has someone figured out how to fix this bug yet?

Wait, what do you mean? This is a fix for the stuttering problems of the 8600, it's not a bug (well I guess it could be, but it's a beneficial one).

This isn't a "fix", it is more of a "workaround" imo. It would be nice if Asus would come out with a bios update or whatever it takes to fix the issue considering this issue has been around since the G1S-A1 first came out.

What's wierd is I get the exact OPPOSITE problem. The computer works perfectly after a fresh restart. After I bring the computer out of hybernate I have almost the same symptoms out as you before you put yours into hybernate.
