Anyone playing BC2 on this rig?

    I have 4GB RAM
    2.00GHz Dual Core
    260M

I'm only getting around 30 FPS or so. Wondering what people with similar rigs are getting.

Can you be more specific? Like what are the setting you use in the game?

Ah sorry. Everything is on minimum. Using DX9 or DXVersion=Auto in the settings.ini file.

Take out that CPU and replace it with the best the G51vx can take, a T9900 3.06 dual. Then overclock it to around 3.4/5 depending on your chip. With that setup and using asus stock gpu clocks I get on average 50fps (used fraps multiple times on all maps) on FULL servers.

    Settings
    1366*768 native
High Texture, Medium Detail and Effects, Low Shadows
    2x AA, 8x AF
    HBAO, BLOOM, and Vsync OFF
    DX10
    Win7 64

The game is heavily CPU dependent, and that slow dual core is holding you back. It really wants quad, but having a fast OC dual core is the best we can do. Hope that helps

Any dual-core (unless 4GHz+) is gonna struggle with BC2 at higher settings and resolutions.

My desktop 3.6GHz Core 2 Duo struggles with BC2.

Thanks, what about CPU temps? Are they ok with that processor? I think I'll eventually upgrade the CPU, but I'm waiting for price drops. :D

The T9900 CPU temps are good, at idle I am around 37C. When web browsing maybe a few degrees higher. If I watch a video I may jump into the 40s, low 50s. While gaming with the overclock I hit a max temp of around 68-70C with it coming down to an average of around 60C. I think the chip could be pushed further, but I usually get a crash in BC2 beyond 3.45ghz. I know there are two different versions of the T9900 out there, I got mine when they were at crazy low prices on the HP parts store. I'm not sure now which version that is, but maybe one of them overclocks better than the other? I would look into that before I bought the chip.

Thanks again. At this point, I don't think its worth it ($585? I bought my laptop for $740 lol), but its definitely something I'll look into for the future.

I dont understand how ppl say this game i CPU dependent... my brother plays it on a 2,4 ghz dual core with details set to high 1080P and no lag as i can see

I'm sorry but I'm gonna call BS on this. Unless of course you consider 15-30FPS as not laggy.

well if ur using a M1710 and 7000 series card , 30-40 won't be lagg .. anyways joking aside... even a T9900 isn't enough in a way... and i5 dual is minimum...

My friend has an almost identical rig (G60), but has 6 GB RAM and 2.1GHz processor (dual core), but gets much smoother framerates.

Would it be more cost effective/possible to change from 4GB to 6GB?

The extra 2gb ram will make little to no difference in game.

Also is an i5 dual really better than a T9900? I don't see how a slower clocked dual core i5 or not would preform better than a significantly higher clock dual core... Is the hyper threading really going to make a difference? Any benches to show me that the i5 dual in the G60 out performs a T9900 in BC2?
