I have seen two laptops with different setups in my price range. One has 128 radeon mobile 9700 and the other is 128 geforce 6600 go. Which would be better for gaming. I am praying that I will be able to run oblivion when it comes out at medium settings.

The 6600 go is better. I have the 6600go, and it performs excellent.

6600 Go would be a better choice and it supports things like SM3.0 while the 9700 doesn't.

I was going to type that, but Unreal beat me to it. I would take the 6600Go over the 9700 anyday. :)

The Go6600 is incredibly faster than the MR9700. The MR9700 is way outdated. I wouldn't bother with a notebook featuring that card.

If you'd like a notebook recommendation, we can help you in the What to Buy forum - there's an FAQ in there to fill out.

Thanks. I was kind of thinking that the 6600 was better. By the way will a 2 ghz, 1gb of ram and the 6600 run oblivion? I know it is not out yet but I am sure hoping to play it.

6600 is better and even the ATI x700 is better then the 9700. The 6600 and the x700 preform the same.

Even the X700? X700 is a fast card, slightly more so than the Go6600. ;)

We're not saying it's a bad card, just that the Go6600 far outperforms it.

my 17 inch powerbook has a 9700 128mb, and it is pretty weak..with low-med settings in WoW, i barely hit 35fps at the inn. i havent tested it out on my Z70VA, but if it can run BF2 at 30fps, then i will automatically assume it will be way better then the 9700.

    pb,out.
