Hi all just a heads up to let you know that as of right now, through the Games for Windows live application, you can download Age of Empires III for $ 0.10. Hope this helps. If this was posted before, my apologies.

Edit: If a mod would be so kind and change the title to age of empires III, not the original one. Also forgot to mention that this may be an error on Microsoft's part, so if you love strategy games, get to downloading! :)

I was looking for the same, but seems its not possible. That sucks. Although I'd probably buy like ten copies for $1, lol and send them to everyone that might even have a slight interest in it. Definitely worth $0.10.

Thats sucks, yea I looked everywhere on their page to see if I can. I know for that price, heck I would buy everyone on this GAMING forum the game!

On a side note, check out the game Tinker, its a gfwl exclusive and its FREE! Just a fun little puzzle game.

Just saw this deal on another forum and was about to post it here but Bubba beat me to it. I remembered enjoying AoE1 back in the day and for .10, this one's a no-brainer! If the servers are still up, we should get some games going sometime!

For 10 cents, even I'm in on the RTS genre now. Through the GFWL marketplace app, currently d/ling AoE III: Complete Collection.

Can't go wrong I figure, unless it won't install (cough) htwingnut (cough) :)

Tinker does look fun, makes me think of a fast food childrens map with a Wall-E theme.

As far as I remember, AOEIII will not work in Windows 7 X64.

Edit: There are mixed reports about this, some say it works fine, others say it works partially or crashes. Any one play it on Windows 7 X64?

I just purchased it for 10 points (10 pence) in the UK.

But would that prevent it from even downloading? I'm getting this error when I go to download:

Install of item failed. If retry fails, delete the item and re-download.

Thanks OP bought it today for 10 XBL marketplace points. I take it this is just like Steam where it doesn't matter where you install it on or how many times as you sign in to play the game?

No, you do not need to be connected to the net to play, at least I started the game and tried part of the single player campaign without it and it ran fine. Also, I believe Age of Empires 3 only has dual-core support. Should't be a problem though considering it is a 2005 original release, expansions came about a year apart afterwards with no real game engine changes.

The only two forms of payment accepted are:

    1) Credit Card/Debit Card

    2) Xbox Live Marketplace Points

And you need a Gamertag account or you can create one.

Ha! True. I should have thought of that. I think I have a Visa gift card around here somewhere with less than $1 on it. Figured I'd never really use it. To be honest, if you're any kind of gamer, you'd almost be a fool to not take advantage of this. AoE 3 is a great game, even if you played for an hour it'd be more than worth the dime and bandwidth.

I'm more concerned about the 3gb it's gonna take up on my SSD than the 10 cents I spent using a pretty much done gift card. Haha.

It's a good way to buy the game, especially for those people who aren't sure on giving out card information, even though it is Microsoft.

Decided to just buy it, but now I can't install it due to a lack of a serial key. Was the serial supposed to come in an e-mail because I click on "View Game Keys" in GFWL and it just says no key assigned.

Hopefully they'll have more 10cents games so that i can buy 14 more games :)

:( I just realized I don't have the keys too.. So i didn't even bother downloading it yet. Do you need the keys to install it?

    According to this thread,

Age of Empires 3 - No key assigned - Games for Windows Live

"Due to the overwhelming success of the Age of Empires III sale, we have temporarily run out of keys to unlock the game. You can still buy the game at this amazing price and you will get/see a key in the next week. When new keys are added to the system you will be auto-assigned a key, there is no need to call support or take any other action from your end. We will post here on the forums when the keys are available and the next time you click 'View Game Keys' for the game you should be assigned one."

About 10 posts down for anyone who is interested

Well, hard to complain for a game for a dime. You could do a lot worse. I can't imagine it will take more than 24 hours to fix it. It is Microsoft selling their own game they published. If they can't produce keys rather quickly, then somethings wrong.
