Does anyone have a datasheet for the GM204 ASIC? I'm toying with the idea of replacing the N16E-GX-A1 package on a GTX 980m mxm module with either a GM204-200-A1 or GM204-400-A1 package taken off of a desktop GTX 970 or 980 card.

I want to take a look at the official datasheet to try and work out some compatibility questions I have, but can't find one . . . probably because you need to pay nvidia for a copy lol.

Also, a schematic for the mxm card itself would be nice, because if I were to use a GM204-200-A1, I suspect I might need to remove some components due to the 224bit memory bus.

The packages are identical as far as I am aware (it would be expensive to change them) and the laser cut memory channels would just mean those parts would not do anything, I don't think they would cause harm. Going through all this I would be surprised if you did not use a fully fledged core though.

Good luck with either of these. I rarely find ANY MXM schematics, let alone recent ones.

I cant even find a gerber or sch file for any GPU PCB. I am presuming they are all kept in house.

Sadly yes, we live in a consumer world, no repair related stuff have place in such world :(
