Which is better? I'm considering the Thinkpad T400 and it comes with either "Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD" or "ATI Mobility Radeon 3470 with 256MB".
I'm not a hardcore gamer, I play the following every now and then: Battlefield2, GTA IV, NFS Undercover, Left 4 Dead and a few older games.
Are any of the mentioned graphics cards suitable for these games? And which game would run the best?

You'll struggle to run anything with the 4500MHD as it's an intergrated GPU. The ATI card however you might be able to run a few 'newer' games at the lowest settings possible.

EDIT:
Minimum System Requirements
* OS: Windows Vista - Service Pack 1 / XP - Service Pack 3
* Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8Ghz, AMD Athlon X2 64 2.4Ghz
* Memory: 1.5GB, 16GB Free Hard Drive Space
* Video Card: 256MB NVIDIA 7900 / 256MB ATI X1900 -
3470 is still waaay better than 4500MHD, in my opinion
-
Take the ATI card without blinking.

Is the T400 the model with hybrid graphics?
If so, then then Radeon 3470 without a blink. -
The ATI card
A dedicated card is ALWAYS better than a integrated one, unless all you want is battery life IIRC
Good Luck -
I have always found that with ATI or Nvidia GPUs, dedicated or integrated, text rendering is sharper than it is with Intel so in my mind it's worth the extra money to go with the ATI GPU.
Since you play a few games I'd say it is a no brainer, get the ATI.
Remember you can always add an external disk, extra RAM, a camera or bluetooth but you can't upgrade your GPU without buying a new machine. -
