Hi, I just recently got a HP Dv 4000 off of ebay. :hp:

    This is my first laptop.

    The Dv4000 has a 1.73ghz pentium M processer with 1GB of ram, 100gig 5400 harddrive and GMA 900 128 shared memory.

I was just wondering if the following games will run on my laptop when i receive it.

    -World or Warcraft

    -Counter Strike Source

    - F.E.A.R.

Graphic qualitiy isnt a biggie for me so I would put everything on the lowest settings possible as long as it's about 30-40 fps

get back to me please :)

You will definitely not be able to run FEAR - that's for sure. Same goes for Quake 4.

WoW you should be able to run on low settings and resolution.

CS:S might run but I doubt that it will be playable.

The only component that is holding your laptop back from a good gaming experience is the GMA900, everything else is very nice.

I had figured that, If i had ordered it would have got the ati x700, but for 900 bucks for like new dv4000 with all those nice specs, i couldent pass it up.

There's no way to upgrade either right? Could I replace the motherboard with one thats has the x700 or something?

With a discount on Compaq.com, you could have gotten a V4000t
with a x700 that is around 1000 and new...

No, no way to upgrade unfortunately. If you bought it less than 21 days ago, you can return it.

He can return it to eBay? ;) (Exams are almost over, and I'm getting cheeky...)

He could eBay it himself, and use that cash for the v4000t. Maybe make a little off the eBay deal by upgrading the RAM; manufacturers make money off of RAM upgrades, couldn't we?
