I am fully aware of how craptastic Intel's GMA 900 is at gaming. My new notebook coming to me will be having that GPU however. I'm not too much of a gamer, but I would like to know anyways what games it could play without them looking like a slideshow. I can tell games like Doom 3, F.E.A.R are a definite no-no.
What are some older games that would run fine? Its a shame how my notebook will have a speedy 2.0 ghz Pentium M, 100 gb 5200 rpm hard drive and 1 gig of ram but its all held back for gaming thanks to the GMA 900.

Man, somebody needs to invent a way to upgrade all notebooks with videocards, like sticking one into a PCMCIA slot or something. :D

Well once MXM and AXIOM come into full force we should be able to do that. :)

Those are going to be the days. :)

doom1 and doom2 should work fine with no problems. Also age of empires 2 should be fine.

Final Fantasy XI is suppose to work with a GMA 900. Square-Enix and Intel promoted their GMA 900 by touting it would run FFXI. So you should be able to run it. From that fact alone, I would guess 2-3 year old games would run fine on it? Also my roomie is running Sim City 4 on a Radeon IGP 320, which is a lot less powerful than GMA 900 I would assume. So SC4 would be good to go too.

Someone said a few months ago that Warcraft III works well on the GMA 900 if you keep the graphics options low.

Well yea, but not anymore.. Ever since the expansion came out, it pretty much isn't enough.. I suppose if you play the classic FFXI, it should theoretically work, but I seriously won't recommend it.. I didn't even think you could buy FFXI anymore without getting the expansions bundled with it.

Is there any possibility at all that HL2 --> Day of Defeat: Source could run on an GMA900/950? Even with tweaking the config?

BTW: Warcraft 3 runs great on my Intel Extreme 2... All settings on high, resolution 1024x768 --> refering to my Gateway in my signature

According to them it should still work with FFXI:Chain of Promathia. I personally don't have a GMA900 but it runs fine on my ATI 200m.

I mostly play Counter-strike 1.6, and Condition Zero. It runs very well on the GMA 900. Warcraft 3, Starcraft are good games that run fine also...

I know Warcraft 3 will run at full speed on it. My cousins old Pentium 3 notebook can run it just fine.
I'd be mostly playing 2d games on it, like SNES/GBA emulation, Fallout 1/2, Baldurs Gate, etc. Probably not even any 3d games except for maybe Max Payne.

I really wish there were a way to upgrade the graphics so I could play Doom 3. I'm like the only one who hasn't played that game. : (
I know it will RUN on my arriving notebook, but it'll look like a slideshow instead, not cool.

i honestly dont think there would be a way to get doom 3 up and running on that thing. BF Vietnam would be a good one, i ran that on my dads toshiba with GMA 900.

If your chipset can support DirectX 7 or better, you should be able to run HL2. You won't be seeing any of the pretty pretties, but you can run it. It's the most scalable game I've ever seen.

tell me you're joking. Perhaps on low settings, medium if somethings are turned off and you have hella ram, but on high i doubt it with above 30 DPS, anything below that will be too laggy for any functional game play. But if you have done it then tell me your secrets.

My brother's desktop with GMA 900 graphics can barely reach 10 fps in Doom 3, so I'm not even going to try it on my notebook.

lol I have tried playing CSS on my laptop with the GMA 900. Its not even funny how crappy it is. Ok... I first did the CSS video stress test. I got like 25FPS... I was like not bad... then I tried playing the actual game. (every thing was on the lowest settings) I'm guessing not even 5 FPS... It was really jerky with the frames... I will be sticking to CS 1.6 and CZ they run flawlessly. ;)
