    Hey guys,

Im about to build my-own-expansion base. I got a hp dv2000t and travel with it a lot, tho i gave my old desktop to my friends since i was using it less often and it didnt make sense to keep it in my place.

Thats why I wanted to buy a 20" LCD Widescreen display with a built-in USB hub, have it placed on the wall over my desk and connect the keyboard, the mouse and my printer to it so that whenever I gotta do something at home, I'd just connect one USB and DVI cable to my laptop and use it as the CPU. In the future I'll probably upgrade to an external HDD tho.

So basically Ive found this monitor:

And I am wondering if the Intel GMA 950 installed in my laptop is able to run the 1680x1050 external resolution. The intel's website says that it goes up to 2500xXXXX but Im wondering if anyone of you guys ever had a 1680x1050 resolution external on the gma 950.

    Cheers

    Tony

A Google search for "dv2000t specifications" brought up a CNet review, which states "Max resolution (external) 1280 x 800." This would suggest that your computer does not support a 1680 x 1050 resolution. To be sure you have to look up the specifications in the manual that you received with your notebook.

I know for a fact that the GMA900 can support upto 1920x1200 (so I'm sure the 950 will as well)...I'm sure that the VGA port has to support certain resolutions to even be called a VGA port. 1280x800 is the resolution of the computer LCD...so I'm tempted to say they just don't specify things correctly. Intel claims the 9x0's can support up to 2048x1536.

CNet isn't exactly known for it's accuracy...most of the stories I've read have at least one major blunder. They are about to be deleted from my bookmarks file.
