    hey
i realise this question has been asked before but there were divided opinions and some making no sense at all. I posted in that one as well but no one seemed to reply.
I am considering of buying a notebook, i wated to know which one of these graphics cards is better. I noticed that 6150 can support 64 bit version of vista and x3100 only run upto 34 bits, i am not sure if bits are something to do with graphics card or processor though, can any one explain that and also can anyone compare these two cards and help me out... thanks

I'd have to definitely go with the GMA X3100 but I think that the drivers for the GeForce might be slightly better if that's the sort of thing that you're worried about.

i believe the gma is more powerfull.. neither are going to be a great option for gaming..you can run games.... but anything more than that.. you could be screwed.

right... thanks... and what about the bits, if geforce 6150 is less powerfull how come it can run 64 bits whereas x3100 only goes upto 32 bits?

um do u mean the 6150 has drivers that work in the 64bit vista and the X3100 doesn't? that has no indication of power, the fact it can run in a 64bit OS doesn't make it powerful, it just makes it compatible.

if u meant 64bit memory path vs 32bit memory path that is a totally different thing which is hardware based and has no standing on whether it can or cannot run in Vista64. just cuz something has more bandwidth doesn't make it more powerful, there are many other factors which weigh in to determine performance. taking one featue and comparing only makes that feature better or worse.

i don't believe anyone mentioned the drivers for Vista - i was just implying that the drivers for the GeForce series are just generally better

no, nafsta basically mentions Vista64 support (it seems). you cant support Vista64 without a driver, this is really the only thing that separates one card from another when it comes to 64bit support.

Personally, as long as you do not plan on doing any modern 3d gaming, get the X3100 for its DX10 support which may help in Vista.

it may have dx10 support but I doubt you will be playing any games rendered in dx10 with it.

The Intel X3100 does not support Directx10. It has a programable core and Intel might bring out directx10 by driver or firmware upgrade. I cant really tell you. But I know that it DOES NOT support Directx10 currently.

    hey people
thanks alot for the comments.. i wont be doing much gaming or may be none at all.. but would probably be watching videos and some 3d design softwares, i hope the thing has enough power to inable me to use the software, currently on my brother's laptop the 128 mb GMA 900, allows to run that software smoothly. So i guess that wont be a problem. Right then... i was a little confused about the bits, and now its clear, on some other forums I heard that intel might release new drivers in coming future so i'll go with x3100 then...
    Thanks alot ! :)

If the GMA900 will run the software, the GMA X3100 will definitely be able to run the software. The X3100 is several times more powerful than the GMA900, pathetic as that may sound.

Why would you double post, in a year old thread? Why not start a new thread, with ONE post. Or maybe... Google? Anyway, which Battlefield? 1942, Vietnam, 2, 2142, which one?
