Hi all,
I am using an Asus Laptop (X200CA-KX219D) with the following specs
Intel Core i3-3217U
4GB 1600MHz DDR3 RAM
Intel HD4000
I am facing a weird issue, my GPU clock would get locked to 350MHz (lowest) whenever I plug in to power. When gaming, this is a nuisance, as fps is much lower than it ought to be. If I run games on battery, the GPU acts fine, and stays at 1050Mhz (highest) as its meant to be.
I have tested various games to make sure that its not a game-specific issue (tried Tomb Raider, NFS Run, Bioshock Infinite, GTA 4, Sleeping Dogs, AC4, Titanfall). All the mentioned games run the GPU at max clock on battery, and perform well on battery, but get locked to 350Mhz on power.
I have also made sure that my laptop isnt thermal throttled.
Power profiles are correctly set up, and the GPU is set to maximum performance in all profiles.
I am on the newest Intel HD Driver (15.33.22.3621) and on the newest BIOS for my laptop. Apart from this issue, my laptop is performing fine in everything else.
Thanks in advance.

make sure that your power setting for the GPU are on max performance when "plugged in" mode

thing is id like to know is how the hell are you playing some of those games on HD4000 and not a dedicated graphics card.
gaming on battery is not advised and a sure fire way of killing the battery early.
you may of changed the settings in the power plans but ive heard of one instance that when the member hovered their mouse over the battery in bottom right task bar it still showed as power saver even though they had changed all their power plans as well. -
Power mode is High Performance, I checked multiple times, as I have been having this problem since 1.5 months , when I got the laptop. Also, I never use the power saver mode, only Balanced and High Performance. I also have my own profile, called Home, which is basically high performance + no sleeping on closing lid for using with external monitor.
Yeah, I dont like playing on battery too, cause within 1 hour or so, 50% of battery is finished. Also, not sure about long term battery life.
I asked on Intel forums too, they couldnt find a solution to this issue.
I can provide some GPU-Z logs if that helps.
