Overclocking the 8600GS has been a nightmare for me thus far. As far as I can tell, my clocks seem to be underclocked. My in-game performance pretty much sux! RivaTuner is reading my stock clocks at 500/1000/400, even though NVidia has released the clocks at 600/1200/700. Seen Here --> http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_8600M.html

Everytime I try to overclock with RivaTuner, as soon as I click "OK", the clocks revert back to default. Even on restart, I have the clocks set to 600/1200/450, but RivaTuner shows my clocks at 500/1000/400. Take a look at the screenshot (taken upon restart) and try to make some sense of it. I do understand that this problem may be caused by specific drivers, however, I already changed from 167.45 to 174.12. Any other possible solutions would be awesome!!!

I had the same problem with my m1530. Two things to try. One, make sure it's plugged in  mine wasn't and that was part of the problem. Also, if was plugged in, try upping to the newest drivers (I think some good ones just came out in the gaming section. Check those out!) Some drivers just don't support o/cing
