Do any of you guys know any software i can use to control the gpu fan and increase it to 80 percent power or something...Well i tried riva tuner but it doesnt seem to detect my fan:/

It's just i go customize, system settings and the only 3 tabs there is are overclocking, compatability and overlay but no fan :(

My 8600mgs idle temps are somthing about 60deg and load is on 74 deg with a little bit of overclock using riva tuner version 2.06

Help me get some control over my fans pls :) since after some more cooling things i inted to overclock a bit more

    Using and xxodd laptop

Well those temps are quite good, especialy for a small overclock.

You gpu can go well over 100* and still be fine, so I don't see the need for more cooling.

Anway, there's not much else out there to control your fan.

You can try ntune....download it and after installation there will be a lot more options in the nvidia control panel, including overclocking and all that.

Anyway after installing ntune, go to nvidia control panel, on the left pane go to performance tab, it will ask you to accept an agreement, do so.

Now you will have options such as GPU settings, Tune System Launch Nvmonitor...under Performance tab.

Click on GPU settings, here you can overclock...this is what I use, Rivatuner turned out to be the cause of my poor in game performance for my card.

Here there will also be GPU fan, where you can select direct fan control instead of automatic and you can control at what percentage the fan is at.

I dont know if it works but you can move the counter about, i havent checked so i dont know for sure

    hope this helps

emm..well i intend to overclock a little more but keeping the temp down...would u think getting a pcime cooler would do some difference and a fan behind the laptop?

undervolting your cpu can help reduce the heat, and thus maybe it the less amount of heat will allow your gpu to run a little bit cooler letting you overclock it a little bit more.

by the way have you changed your low power clocks or something...I mean I have my gpu overclocked but the overclock only gets used when I am in game....during normal tasks the gpu uses low power 3d or standard 2d clocks...and thus the idle temp is the same as before...always at 57C

EDIT: just read you werent complaining about your idle temps....anyway a 74C when under full load with a little overclock is perfectly fine...my card 8600M Gt at default clocks reaches that I think...with overclocking people get temps of about 80-90C on their gpus and this is considered the stable range...anything above that would not be good to have
