ya so my GPU is idling at 67C...
i have no overclock and i'm getting artifcating in BF2 b/c of this i think...is there something wrong with my comp?
I tried propping the back of the lappy up with a book so the heat could escape easier and i think it helped a lil but not really enough lol...

Thats rather hot for a idle temp and if its artifacting in game play then yes more than likely something is wrong. Can you hear the fan working?
-
The temp may be normal for your gddr3 on aero, but the artifacting is most definately not.
-
i fixed the artifacts by propping a book under the computer...but still...is there something wrong with my GPU?
-
and just for reference i rarely hear the fans
-
Maybe your fans are manually turned off, try turning them on using something like ntune or rivatuner.
-
i have ntune...how do i turn the fans on using it lol
ya i see under the underclocking part...it wont let me control the fan...its like grayed out lol... -
trying finding a place to download i8kfangui. Its a fan control program for dell laptops. If your fan's aren't working properly or just need to be forced to run higher this might help.

Check out the cooling guide for some more tips.

Check the Dell forum and see what other XPS M1530 owners report as their temperatures. You should not be getting artifacts and 67*C idle is as noted high. It sounds like the heatsink and/or the thermal compound may not have been installed right.

Wow, my Vostro doesn't even touch 67C when gaming [max it ever got while gaming was 65C]
Your fans ARE working, right? It's just that you can barely hear them? -
i'll try i8kfangui
